Big 12 Power Poll NCAA Football

October 13, 2009

The 2009 college football betting season continues with its seventh week of play this week. Check out how BetOnline stacks up this power conference heading into the halfway point of the ’09 season…

1: Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-0 ATS, 4-1 SU) (LW: 1) Mother Nature kept Nebraska’s offense down for the entire first half against Mizzou, but in the 4th quarter, RB Roy Helu and the Huskers kicked it into gear, outscoring the Tigers 27-0 and earning a hard-fought 27-12 victory. The Black Shirts had yet another great game, but they’ll have a tougher task this week against the Air Raid.

Up Next: Home vs. Texas Tech (-7)

2: Colorado Buffaloes (3-1 ATS, 1-4 SU) (LW: 4) Surprisingly, the Buffs gave the Longhorns a real fight for a couple quarters of football. But when push came to shove, there was just no denying the boys in burnt orange. Chalk up another victory for Colorado bettors though, who have covered every spread they’ve faced since losing to Toledo in the Glass Bowl.

Up Next: Home vs. Kansas (+10)

3: Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-2 ATS, 4-2 SU) (LW: 6) Now this is the Air Raid that we’ve become accustomed to at T-Tech! The Red Raiders dropped 739 yards on Kansas State on Saturday afternoon, and they did so without the services of QB Taylor Potts. After winning 66-14 over KSU, Texas Tech will head into Lincoln this week looking to deflate the Huskers balloon.

Up Next: Away @ Nebraska (+7)

4: Missouri Tigers (3-2 ATS, 4-1 SU) (LW: 2) The Tigers will probably be kicking themselves for this one for a long time to come. They really had a chance to jump onto the national scene against the Huskers at home, and in spite of the fact that they held a 12-0 4th quarter lead, they couldn’t finish the job. Still, considering how many players left this program last season, HC Gary Pinkel has nothing to fret about.

Up Next: Away @ Oklahoma State (OTB)

5: Baylor Bears (3-2 ATS, 3-2 SU) (LW: 7) Considering that Oklahoma was getting back its Heisman Trophy winning quarterback and Baylor had just lost its highly-talented quarterback, it’s amazing that the Bears had anything for the Sooners. Still, they hung around for awhile and ultimately did just enough on defense to keep in front of the lofty 27.5-point spread.

Up Next: Away @ Iowa State (+3)

6: Iowa State Cyclones (3-2 ATS, 3-3 SU) (LW: 9) Give it up for the Cyclones, who had a real chance of knocking off a ranked opponent last week in their narrow loss to Kansas. After starting off the season by chucking four picks against Iowa, QB Austen Arnaud has really settled down and is starting to round into form. He has thrown seven touchdowns without a pick in his L/4 starts. It should come as no surprise that the Cyclones really could’ve won all four of those games.

Up Next: Home vs. Baylor (-3)

And the rest…

7: Kansas Jayhawks (2-2 ATS, 5-0 SU) (LW: 3)

8: Oklahoma Sooners (2-3 ATS, 3-2 SU) (LW: 5)

9: Texas A&M Aggies (2-2-1 ATS, 3-2 SU) (LW: 8)

10: Kansas State Wildcats (2-3 ATS, 3-3 SU) (LW: 10)

11: Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-2-1 ATS, 4-1 SU) (LW: 11)

12: Texas Longhorns (1-4 ATS, 5-0 SU) (LW: 12)
