Betting on the Masters Tournament – Golf Odds

March 22, 2011

The most famous golf tournament in the world tees off Thursday, April 7, as the best golfers in the world strive to win that coveted green jacket.  The first major championship of the PGA Tour takes place at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.  There are a few important keys to betting on the Masters.

Of the four major tournaments each year, the Masters is the only one that is always played on the same course.  This can give great advantages to experienced golfers that have played at the Augusta Golf Club a time or two.  The Masters is a par-72 course over 7,445 yards.

Many golf greats have won this tournament over the years, but note that Tiger Woods is among them, having won the Masters four times and he is back again in 2011 for his potential fifth Masters victory.  Phil Mickelson is the reigning Masters champion and will defend his title in April.

The winner of the Masters gets an automatic invitation for the remaining three majors, the US Open, the Open Championship, and the PGA Championship.

However, two of the more recent winners of this tournament, Trevor Immelman of South Africa and Angel Cabrera of Argentina, were relative unknowns before winning the green jacket, although both had played on the Augusta course before.

Tiger leads the Masters betting odds in the Sportsbook to win the 2011 Masters at +350 followed by Phil Mickelson at +600.  Other golfers with favorable odds include Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer, both at +1200, Rory McIlroy at +1600, and Paul Casey at +2000.

In the golf World Rankings, Martin Kaymer currently leads the way, ahead of Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Graeme McDowell and Tiger Woods.

Make your Masters betting picks in the Sportsbook now and enjoy one of the greatest golf tournaments of the year by winning big!
