Bets Big East Bets Tonight in NCAAB Online Sportsbook

March 8, 2011

The Villanova Wildcats fell out of the rankings on the heels of a brutal four game losing streak that ended the regular season. Now they’re scrapping for life in the Big East Tournament, while almost everyone has turned their back on them in the online sportsbook. Villanova is just 1-12 ATS in their last 13 games and have only gone 4-9 SU during that run as well. A strong start was matched by a horrific end for Villanova.

South Florida Bulls (9-22) vs. Villanova Wildcats (21-10)

Tuesday, March 8th — Madison Square Garden — 7:00pm EST

NCAAB Online Sportsbook Line: Villanova -9.5 (127.0)

Villanova may not treasure a matchup against South Florida, but they should. The Bulls are just 1-8 SU in their last 9 games with a 4-5 ATS record to match during that run. Perhaps the biggest issue I have with going against South Florida is that they travel reasonably well in the NCAAB online sportsbook. They hold a record of 9-5 ATS on the road this season and since this game is on neutral territory, the Bulls won’t be as phased as people think.

I know that matchups should be the basis for any NCAAB online sportsbook pick, but I can’t find myself agreeing with Villanova by such a large number. Without Corey Stokes, this team has lost all semblance of leadership and rhythm and while I’m sure they’ll pick up the win, there’s no way I’m giving them any money to protect with a 3-8 ATS record on the road. No chance in hell.

The Providence Friars made plenty of waves when they caused upsets over major programs, but none of that will matter when they face a team they’ve never played well against. Marquette is a strong 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against Providence, and hold a 86-62 victory at home the last time they played.

Providence Friars (15-16) vs. Marquette Golden Eagles (18-13)

Tuesday, March 8th — Madison Square Garden — 9:00pm EST

NCAAB Online Sportsbook Line: Marquette -7.0 (154.5)

Given that this game is at the mecca known as Madison Square Garden, the road records for each team are worth exploring but only to a minimum. Marquette has been a better take at home in the online sportsbook, going 8-4 ATS and have a winning record on the road as well with a record of 6-5ATS.

Providence is a ghastly 3-8 ATS on the road this season, and has ended the season on a 2-8 SU and ATS run overall. Though they made a name for themselves by becoming a strong cover team, they aren’t remotely reliable in the Big East tournament especially when playing Marquette in the online sportsbook. Take the points and the favorite and don’t look back. Providence is nowhere close to the level.
