BetFlix Update – Gary Payton Makes His Friday Night NBA Picks!

April 24, 2010

Gary Payton and his massive gumball machine are back for the NBA playoffs! Where else are you going to get free NBA betting tips from a should-be hall of famer? If you’re unsure what to do with tonight’s matchups, than Gary Payton has some words of wisdom for you.

Gary Payton Prediction #1 – “Miami Wins By Double-Digits”

Are you serious, Gary? Boston handed Miami a brutal 106-77 defeat in Game 2 without Kevin Garnett, who will be back in action when this series arrives in Miami. Maybe Payton has to pay homage to the team he finally won an NBA Championship with, or maybe he understands just how viscious the home crowd in South Beach can be.

Surely Payton is ignoring that Miami is a paltry 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 home games, but even the oddsmakers across the board seem to think that Miami has a definitive chance of getting revenge in Game 3 when they host the Celtics. One of the NBA betting trends that is going virtually unnoticed is that both Chicago and Oklahoma City won Game 3 at home after losing the first two games on the road. It’s a betting trend that is currently 2-0 SU/ATS.

If Gary Payton is correct, then that trend is about to continue. Are you daring enough to side with “The Glove” and take Miami -4.0 at home?

Gary Payton Prediction #2 – “Tough Match-Up For Dallas”

And that’s an understatement. Dallas showed their true colors in Game 2 after edging the Spurs in Game 1. With the Spurs literally running away with the game, Dallas was left sucking dust. For a team that is led by such a fiery leader in Dirk Nowitzki and a cool headed veteran like Jason Kidd, they sure as hell fall by the wayside when their down big in games. I’m with GP on this one. The Mavs don’t have the nuts to sack up against the veteran Spurs.

Gary Payton Prediction #3 – “Denver Isn’t ‘There’ Yet”

Take it from a veteran who’s played in the auspicious home court of the Utah Jazz. Gary Payton notes that he “hated playing there” and I don’t blame him. Those Utah Jazz betting fans are insane cats. And it’s for that reason that Payton swings his vote to Utah at home to cover the -3.0 basketball betting line.

He also goes against the grain, saying that Carmelo Anthony and the Nuggets haven’t matured in to a championship team yet. Do I agree with him? Not entirely, but I see his point. This is a team that is losing its way without their head coach, George Karl, and with the purple and blue fans of Utah rattling the cages tonight, it’ll be hard for the Nuggets to overcome the frenzied Utah Jazz.

But wait! There’s more! Gary Payton has more love to share as he rolls on in to Saturday night’s games. Check out his views on the NBA betting weekend ahead here.
