Bet the NFL Odds – Seahawks vs Broncos

September 19, 2010

Two teams that not many people expected a whole lot out of will do battle in Denver in week two as the Denver Broncos enter their game against the Seattle Seahawks as NFL odds favorites. But are the Broncos favorites on the basis of their talent or simply on their history as a franchise and their name value?

The Broncos have a lot of work to do after losing in week one to the Jaguars, but at the same time, the Seahawks have a lot of work to do as well despite their resounding and surprising week one win over the favored 49ers.

The Seahawks looked good under new coach Pete Carroll but they need to figure out what kind of team they are first. Are they a pass-first squad or a balanced run-pass team?

It will be hard to figure out on the road against a tough-minded Broncos team in the altitude. The altitude might not have an effect on the NFL game odds but it could be big in this one as the Broncos are used to it and Seattle doesn’t play in Denver too often.

The Broncos haven’t started an NFL season 0-2 in more than a decade as well, another stat that seems to push the line in their favor. But this isn’t a vintage Broncos team. The quarterback situation is crowded but not as talented as in past years and the offense isn’t very versatile when taking into account the weaknesses in the passing game.

This should be a low-scoring affair; however, as the NFL game odds show that the Seahawks don’t really scare anyone on offense. This will come down to the running game and turnovers and Denver has an edge in both of those departments playing at home.

Give the nod to the home team and their superior running game in this one and go with the Broncos in week two.

NFL odds pick: Denver Broncos (-3).
