Bet Online – The Irish have it in Top European Category for Honda Classic
March 3, 2011
The Irish have it in the Top European golf betting category for this week’s Honda Classic.
Both Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy are offering terrific odds to win the tournament straight up, +1500, but why not also put a few bucks on one of them to be the best European this week? Graeme’s and Rory’s odds are better than that of the favorite in the Top European category, Lee Westwood, making them both very attractive in this category for the Honda Classic.

Top European
Best Bet A: Graeme McDowell +450
He finished third at Abu Dhabi and then ninth last week at the WGC-Accenture. McDowell also finished third at the Tournament of Champions early this year on the PGA Tour. The golf sports betting odds once again make him the second choice to Lee Westwood, but overall, McDowell’s been playing much better than Lee this season. If Graeme can be better in the final round this week at the Honda, he shot a 76 with a quadruple bogey on hole 71 last year, then McDowell could easily be the best European this week.
Best Bet B: Rory McIlroy +450
Rory finished in thirteenth place at the 2009 Honda Classic. In 2010, he shot a 75 third round and ended up in fortieth place. Rory Mac doesn’t figure to screw up like that in the third round of the 2011 Honda Classic because he’s been sharp so far this year. McIlroy finished second at Abu Dhabi, and tenth at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. He’s also offering better odds in this category than Lee Westwood.
Best Underdog Bet: Brian Davis +3500
BD shot a 75 round one and a 76 round two at the 2010 Honda Classic to miss the cut. I still believe that he’s got a shot in this golf online betting category because, well, the odds are awfully nice, aren’t they? Davis’ best finish this season was a thirteenth at the Bob Hope Classic in January. He missed the cut at the AT&T Pebble Beach and finished seventy-seventh in the Northern Trust Open. But…those odds are awfully nice, aren’t they?
Others To Consider
Lee Westwood +350 – - Westwood’s ninth at the 2010 Honda Classic is encouraging, but he hasn’t had a great year so far with a fifteenth at the Dubai Desert Classic being his best finish in 2011.
Luke Donald +400 – - The WGC-Accenture winner could keep it going this week in Palm Beach Gardens. Then again, LD did miss the cut at the Northern Trust Open a few weeks ago.
Robert Karlsson +900 – - Karlsson’s European Tour form has been terrific this season. He finished fifth at the Volvo Golf Champions and then sixth at the Qatar Masters. He’s not without a shot in this category.
