It was easy to justify a Bet Online for the Tennessee Titans after the first seven weeks of the season. They were 5-2, Vince Young was keeping his trap shut and the defense was re-emerging as one of the better units in the NFL. A six game losing streak ended the dream and has relegated the Titans to a disappointing Spoiler role.
The Tennessee offense started strong. They were middle of the league in passing and running but have fallen off the cliff and are poised to finish the season at the bottom of passing statistics (currently 29th in the NFL) and middle of the pack in rushing, despite the presence of All-World Chris Johnson. However, Johnson did gain almost 200 combined yards in the first meeting between the two teams.
The Tennessee defense isn’t anything to write home about either. They are 28th against the pass (251.67 yards per game) and are 21st versus the run (116.67 yards per game). With a steadily improving running game, and with Peyton Manning looking like he has buried his slump, the Tennessee defense is in for a long afternoon.
The Indianapolis Colts have justified a Bet Online by the way that they emerged from a near late season collapse and how they have put it all together at just the right time. The offense is clicking and for once, the defense isn’t costing them any games.
Indianapolis will end the season with the best passing game in the league (currently 290.13 yards per game). What has made the difference for this offense is the better play of their 30th ranked running game (38.13 yards per game). The Colts have nearly doubled their season average in the last two games, averaging 173 yards rushing in their last two contests. Dominic Rhodes and a healthy Joseph Addai are difference makers for the Colts.
Defensively, the Colts continue to be strong against the pass (12th ranked – 209.53 yards per game). Their 27th ranked rushing defense (132.07 yards per game), like the rushing offense, has totally turned it around. In the last two games, the running D has given up an average of just 73.5 yards on the ground – Amazing!
Bet Online Outlook:
The Tennessee Titans are 1-7 SU and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games. They are 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games on the road and are 1-4 SU in their last five games against Indianapolis. In their last seven trips to Indy, Tennessee is 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS.
The Indianapolis Colts RE 20-4 SU in their last 24 games at home and are 6-1 SU in their last seven at home versus Tennessee. Indianapolis is 4-1 SU in their last five games versus the Titans and is 3-6 ATS in their last nine versus Tennessee.
The Tennessee Titans gave up on the season a few weeks ago and now face the realization that they are playing for a coach that probably won’t be there next year. Coach Jeff Fisher has already stated that he intends to give his younger players a shot to perform in this game. Facing Peyton Manning and crew with a bunch of backups is a bad plan. This game won’t be close – one team is motivated, the other clearly is not!
