Bet on Who Will Win the NFC East – Phily vs Dallas

January 2, 2010

Philadelphia @ Dallas

The deciding game on who will win the NFC East has the Philadelphia Eagles visiting the 3 point favorite Dallas Cowboys at 4:15 PM Sunday afternoon.

NFL Week 17 Betting Odds:

Philadelphia Eagles +3
Dallas Cowboys -3
O /U 47

The scenario is pretty simple whoever wins gets the NFC title and will host a playoff game.

In week 9 the Cowboys shocked the Eagles 20-16 with a Miles Austin’s 49-yard touchdown reception in the last quarter, in that game Philadelphia couldn’t get things going in the offensive side of the ball.

"Our last loss against them really motivated us to come out and play good," Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware said.

This week the Eagles need to stop Dallas running game first as the Cowboys average 128.3 rushing yards per game with their 3-headed running game.

If the Cowboys can’t establish the run expect Romo to take over; he has been playing solid football lately as he has only thrown 1 interception in the last 5 games compared to 9 TDs. Much of the success of the Cowboys’ passing game is because of Romo’s ability to extend the play out of the pocket.

The Eagles are one of the most explosive offenses in the entire league, with players like WR DeSean Jackson, WR Jeremy Maclin and TE Brent Celek. Philadelphia needs to stay aggressive in front of two- and three-deep zone coverage

The Eagles need to protect McNabb in the pocket against DeMarcus Ware and the rest of the aggressive Cowboys pass rush defense. If Philadelphia can’t handle them they could be up for a long afternoon.

Also the Eagles can quickly get the upper hand with the speed of DeSean Jackson, so special teams will be a factor in what appear to be a close game.

Consider these NFL betting trends: Dallas is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games at home and Philadelphia is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games on the road. Also the total has gone OVER in 11 of Philadelphia’s last 16 games but it has gone UNDER in 7 of Dallas’s last 8 games.

My pick: The Eagles are just too strong…take them with the points.
