Bet On NFL – NFC West Rivals Clash With Top Spot In Division On The Line

October 24, 2010

The NFC West has been dominated by two teams over the last four seasons, which makes it no surprise to see both of them at the top of the division standings heading in to week seven of the NFL season.

The Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks are both 3-2 to start the year, with their first meeting of the season coming this Sunday at Qwest Field.

Bet On NFL Odds:

Cardinals +5.5
Seahawks -5.5
Totals: 40

The Cardinals have had two weeks to prepare for this contest following a massive 30-20 win over the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, while the Seahawks are coming off of a big win of their own after rubbing out the Chicago Bears on the road 23-20 last Sunday.

Bet On NFL: What The Cardinals Will Have To Do To Win

The Cardinals will need undrafted rookie Matt Hall to build on his performance from the win over the Saints in his second start, after he completed 17 passes for 168 yards, with one interception in his NFL debut.

Arizona has already been through three quarterbacks this year while looking to replace Kurt Warner, and will need Hall to prove that he is the man.

The Cardinals became the second team in NFL history to score 30 or more points without throwing or running for a touchdown in a game, with the defense coming up huge with three touchdowns in last weekend’s victory.

While it may be impossible to duplicate last Sunday’s effort, the defense will need to produce another solid outing, with an emphasis on creating turnovers.

Bet On NFL: What The Seahawks Will Have To Do Win

Running back Justin Forsett averaged over six yards per carry and scored a touchdown in the Seahawks’ win over the Bears, providing Seattle with a quality option in the backfield to help take the pressure off of starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.

Marshawn Lynch struggled in his first game for the Seahawks, averaging less than three yards per carry, and will need to be better.

Seattle has shown major improvement in stopping the run this season, and are ranked second in the league against the rush, but must prove that those numbers aren’t mainly due to the fact that nearly all the team’s they have played favor the pass-heavy offense.

Bet On NFL: Outlook & Pick

Always regarded as one of the hardest stadiums in the league to play in, Qwest field will be rocking as head coach Pete Carroll and the Seahawks try to knock off the defending NFC West champions.

Seattle is undefeated in two game at home this season, while Arizona is winless in as many on the road. The Cardinals are coming off an improbable win over the Saints in which they scored 30 despite the offense not punching in a single touchdown, and are due for a letdown.

Bet On NFL Pick: Seahawks -5.5
