The Philadelphia Eagles (6-3) return home following a confidence-building bet on NFL win at Washington on Monday night as the Eagles played their most complete game of the season in a 59-28 whipping of the Redskins.
The Eagles offense is explosive and dynamic with Michael Vick running the show at quarterback. He will be challenged more this week by a Giants defense that ranks among the league’s best allowing 270 yards per game to lead the NFL.
Despite a surprising home loss to Dallas last Sunday, the Giants offense has been clicking averaging over 32 points per game their last five contests. In fact, in the Giants last three road games, they have been a bet on NFL power going 3-0 SU/ATS while scoring 41, 41 and 34 points at Seattle, Dallas and Houston.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning has thrown 14 touchdown passes the past five games, and these two teams played a pair of high-scoring games last season with the Eagles winning both games 45-38 and 40-17 on this field.
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has proven very difficult for defenses to defend this season, as he has weapons at all the skill positions and the ability to scramble, create and run.
The Giants rush the passer effectively, but despite some strong yardage stats defensively, New York ranks third from the bottom in the NFL in opponent points per play, meaning they give up big plays for scores on bet on NFL games.
A look at the Giants opponents this season also shows a weaker schedule making their stats look more favorable defensively. Against two quality opponents, the Giants were beaten by the Titans and Colts while allowing 29 and 38 points.
Last week the Giants allowed Cowboys backup quarterback Jon Kitna to pass for 327 yards on just 13 completions.
NFL Insider Tip: The ‘over’ is 8-0 in the NY Giants L/8 games against NFC East opponents, and 7-1 in the NY Giants L/8 games as underdog. The ‘over’ is also 11-4-1 in the Eagles L/16 home games. The Giants and Eagles are 1-2 in the NFC in total offense averaging over 400 yards per game at 6.0 yards per play.
The Eagles have game-breakers at wide receiver with DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Macklin and running back LeSean McCoy averages 4.7 yards per carry and leads the Eagles in receptions.
Combined with Vick’s versatility and improved passing averaging a NFC-best 8.8 yards per pass attempt and the league’s best passer rating for regular quarterbacks, the Eagles should have their #1 ranked NFC offense going strong again this week as a bet on NFL totals winner.
My NFL Predictions: Philadelphia Eagles / NY Giants over 48 -110
