Bet on NFL – Chargers vs Colts

November 28, 2010

If you’re looking to make a Bet on NFL in Week 12, the Chargers/Colts game may be one of the toughest to call on the entire schedule. The Chargers, like they always do, have caught fire in November and are moving up the ranks in the AFC West, just one game back of the Kansas City Chiefs. But this Sunday night showdown with Peyton Manning and the Colts is going to be a real test of just how good this team really is. Indianapolis is just one game better at 6-4, and have alternated wins and loses the past few weeks. But don’t think that just because the Chargers are playing well of late means they’re automatically the team to Bet on NFL.

The Chargers are once again back on track after a 2-5 start, rattling off three straight wins. The last time they tasted defeat was at the hands of the New England Patriots, since then they’ve beaten the Titans, Texans and Broncos. But making it four straight may be asking a little much, even considering how well they’ve played the Colts down in Indianapolis.

Football Betting Line:
San Diego Chargers +130
Seattle Seahawks -3, -150
Total: 51 ½

What has been the big story for the Chargers this year has been the injury bug as it has claimed Antonio Gates again, as his status is once again in jeopardy after missed the past two games with foot ailments. The Chargers do get back one of the best receivers from a year ago in Vincent Jackson, who has missed the first 11 weeks thanks to a contract dispute. He will be getting some immediate work with the injury to Gates as well as Malcom Floyd not being %100.

Still, even with the spark that Jackson will provide, I have a hard time betting against Peyton Manning and the Colts. Peyton had a tough time of it last week against the Pats, but you don’t keep this guy down for long, and I think they make a statement with a big win over San Diego. The Chargers defence has played well up to this point in the season, but Peyton is just a different type of QB, especially at home.

The way I see this one playing out is the Colts coming out firing right away, with some deep strikes to Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon, who is very overdue for a big game. The Colts need a win to at least keep pace with the Jaguars if they win on Sunday, and with the division lead possibly at stake, I wouldn’t make a Bet on NFL against Peyton and the Colts.

Bet on NFL Pick: Indianapolis (-3)
