Bet On NBA – Utah, Denver and Clippers Figure as Best Late Bets

December 22, 2010

Three late games on Wednesday, Dec. 22nd, figure to offer terrific wagering opportunities in the NBA sportsbook.  The Utah Jazz battle the Minnesota T’Wolves on the road, the Denver Nuggets take on the San Antonio Spurs on the road and the L.A. Clippers battle the Houston Rockets at home.

Let’s take a look at the three Dec. 22nd late games in the sportsbook!

Dec. 22nd – NBA Games

Utah Jazz (20-9) at Minnesota Timberwolves (6-23)

Where:  Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota
When:  8:00 pm EST

NBA Odds:  Utah -6

Analysis:  65% of sports betting fans are backing the Jazz in this contest and I can’t argue with them.  The Jazz has gone 8-4-1 ATS on the road this season and is 3 and 1 against the spread in their last 4 games.  They beat Minnesota by 22 points, 122 to 100, the last time these two teams faced each other this past March.  Utah is also 8 and 2 against the spread in their last 10 games after 1 day of rest.  The T’Wolves have gone 3 and 1 ATS in their last 4 games, but they just don’t match up well at all with the Jazz.  Minnesota allows an incredible 110 points per game while scoring roughly 102 points per game on average.  That means that Minnesota is losing by an average of 8 points per game.

Denver Nuggets (16-10) at San Antonio Spurs (24-3)

Where:  AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas
When:  8:30 pm EST

NBA Odds:  Denver +7

Analysis:  Denver is awful against the NBA odds spread in the sportsbook.  The Nuggets are 8-16-1 ATS on the season, but I still feel that they can battle San Antonio tough in this game on Wednesday night.  When these two teams met on Dec. 16th, the Nuggets almost pulled off the upset, losing 112 to 113, on the road versus the Spurs.  Nuggets’ guard Chauncey Billups is probable on Wednesday.  I expect Chauncey to play but I’m not sure about Chris Andersen.  If Andersen does play, then I like the Nuggets even more getting 7 points from a Spurs squad that has gone 1 and 3 ATS in their last 4 games and appears primed for a straight up loss after winning 9 straight games.  Simply put, the Spurs are due for a let down and face a team that really matches up well with them on Wednesday night.

Houston Rockets (13-15) at Los Angeles Clippers (8-21)

Where:  Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
When:  10:30 pm EST

NBA Odds:  L.A. Clippers -1

Analysis:  Hell yeah, the Clippers are hot!  Not only have they won 3 games straight up in a row, but they’ve also covered the spread in the online sports book in those 3 games.  LAC has begun to roll because point-guard Baron Davis is concentrating on dishing the ball, he had 12 assists versus the T’Wolves in the Clippers’ last game, instead of going to the rack.  Davis is setting up guard Eric Gordon, who is now averaging 23.9 points per game, and Mr. Awesome himself, Blake Griffin.  Griffin is averaging 12.2 boards per game and produced a double-double with 22 points versus Minnesota.  Ryan Gomes, Griffin’s forward teammate in the starting line up, produced a double-double as well against the T’Wolves.  Houston has won 3 games in a row and has gone 3 and 0 against the spread as well, which is why the odds are what they are for this game.  I’ll go ahead and take the home team in this contest.
