Bet On NBA – Spurs, Suns, Blazers Likely to Cover
December 16, 2010
The San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns and Portland Trailblazers are likely to cover versus the NBA betting odds line in the sportsbook on Wednesday, Dec. 14th.
While LeBron and the Miami Heat tear it up in the Eastern Conference, Manu Ginobili and the San Antonio Spurs are tearing it up in the Western Conference. The Spurs are a league best 20 and 3 and appear to be playing better than they have in years. Can they not just win but cover yet another huge wagering spread in the sportsbook?
Let’s take a look at the NBA action going on Wednesday night, Dec. 15th!

Dec. 15th – NBA Games
Milwaukee Bucks (10-13) at San Antonio Spurs (20-3)
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas
When: 8:30 pm EST
NBA Betting Odds: San Antonio -8 ½
Analysis: The trends are definitely all over the Spurs in this game. San Antonio is 12-3-1 against the spread in the basketball betting sportsbook in their last 16 versus an Eastern Conference opponent. San Antonio is 4 and 0 ATS in their last 4 home games.
The Bucks are 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog. Tony Parker is listed as probable for Wednesday night’s game and the Bucks have gone 2 and 0 straight up and against the spread in their last 2 games including beating Dallas on the road 103 to 99 as +7 ½ point dogs in their last. I don’t believe they make it 2 in a row against the 2 top teams in the Southwest Division.
Minnesota T’Wolves (6-19) at Phoenix Suns (11-12)
Where: US Airways Center, Phoenix, Arizona
When: 9:30 pm EST
NBA Betting Odds: Phoenix -9 ½
Analysis: As badly as Phoenix has been playing lately, 0 and 3 straight up and against the spread in the NBA sportsbook, the T’Wolves are tailor maid for the Suns to get medieval on the court. Phoenix is averaging 108.1 points per game. Minnesota gives up 109.1 points per game.
The T’Wolves are 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 games on the road while the Suns are 15-5-1 against the spread in their last 21 games as a favorite of 5 to 10 ½ points. Minny is also 2 and 5 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two in Phoenix. There’s a good chance that this one might go over the 224 ½ total as well. So, think about a parlay wager for this contest.
Portland Trailblazers (12-13) at Dallas Mavericks (19-5)
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
When: 9:30 pm EST
NBA Betting Odds: Portland +7
Analysis: The 19 and 5 Mavs continue to infuriate sports betting fans by being stellar on the road ATS, 8 and 1, and bad at home against the spread, 6-7-2. They failed against the spread versus the Milwaukee Bucks on 12/13. They also lost straight up to the Bucks in that game, 99 to 103. Now, they face Portland at home.
The trends give this one to the Mavs who are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss while the Blazers are 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games versus a team with a winning straight up record, but I have to go with Portland in this one.
Portland has lost 2 games in a row both straight up and against the spread but I believe they have enough on the frontline in LeMarcus Aldridge, swingman 6’ 5” Wesley Matthews and Marcus Camby to keep this one close.
