Bet On NBA – Knicks over Spurs, Heat, Bulls Highlight Early Games

January 4, 2011

The New York Knicks take on the Spurs as home dogs in the NBA sportsbook while the Miami Heat hosts the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls take on the Toronto Raptors.

All 3 early games in the NBA should kick off a great night of hoops action. The Spurs, at 29 and 4, are already seeking their 30th victory of the season, but the Knicks aren’t just going to hand that 30th victory over to San Antonio.

Check out a preview for all 3 games below!

Jan. 4th – NBA Games

San Antonio Spurs (29-4) at New York Knicks (19-14)

Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York

When: 7:30 pm EST

NBA Betting Odds: New York Knicks +5 ½

Analysis: The Spurs may be the better team, but they’re giving up quite a few points to a tough NY squad in the online sportsbook in this contest. The Knicks have gone 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 games as an underdog and is 17 and 4 ATS in their last 21 games following a straight up victory.

The Spurs are a terrific 8 and 2 versus the Eastern Conference in their last 11 but is 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 after scoring 100 points or more. I just feel that San Antonio, who is searching for its 15th victory out of their last 16 games, is ready for a letdown. Out of their last 15 games, the Spurs have played a total of 3 games on the road. The Knicks could keep this one close.

Milwaukee Bucks (13-18) at Miami Heat (27-9)

Where: American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida

When: 7:30pm EST

NBA Betting Odds: Miami -9 ½

Analysis: Miami beat the Bucks 88 to 78 the last time these two teams met in early December. The Heat covered the spread in the online sports betting book that day and I believe that they’re going to cover the spread on Tuesday night.

Milwaukee averages only 90.6 points per game while shooting 41.4% from the field. Miami’s D is the best in the league when allowing 42.3% and only 92 points from the field. The Heat averages 101.6 points and 47% from the field.

Miami should have no trouble absolutely dominating Milwaukee in this game. The Heat has won 18 out of 19 and although they don’t always cover spreads, the Bucks ridiculously sloth-like offense should allow Miami to run up the score.

Toronto Raptors (11-22) at Chicago Bulls (22-10)

Where: United Center, Chicago, Illinois

When: 8:00 pm EST

NBA Betting Odds: Chicago -8

Analysis: The Bulls have been fantastic straight up lately when winning 6 out of their last 7 games. They aren’t, however, covering basketball betting spreads as the Bulls are 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 overall, but versus the Raptors, Chi-Town was golden last time when beating up on the Dino’s 110 to 93 as 6 ½ point faves.

Chicago should have no trouble dominating an overmatched Toronto team that is 1-4-1 against the spread in their last 6 and 1 and 5 straight up in their last 6. The Raptors may get Andrea Bargnani and Jeryd Bayless back for tonight’s game, but Chicago just matches up very well versus the Raptors. I’m backing the Chi-Town Man Cows over the Canadian Dinosaurs in this matchup.
