Dec. 10th – NBA Games
L.A. Lakers at Chicago Bulls
Where: United Center, Chicago, Illinois
When: 8:00 pm EST
NBA Odds: Chicago Bulls +1 ½
Analysis: Most gambler are probably going to jump all over the Lakers in this game because only giving up 1 ½ points in a Laker game does represent terrific NBA betting value. Then again, the Bulls’ frontcourt of Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer might actually have the upper hand in this contest. Noah is averaging close to 15 points and 12 boards per game. Boozer was held to only 4 points and 3 boards versus Cleveland in the Bulls’ last but before that he had scored 29 and 12 versus Oklahoma City and 25 and 9 versus Houston. I like the fact that Bulls’ guard Derrick Rose can play Kobe Bryant pretty much even. The Bulls are only 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games but the Lakers are 1 and 7 ATS in their last 8 games. I’ll take the home team with the stronger frontcourt in this sports betting matchup.
Atlanta Hawks at San Antonio Spurs
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas
When: 8:30 pm EST
NBA Odds: Over 195 ½
Analysis: There is a lot of trends for the under in this game, but I like the over for a few reasons. First, the over is 9 and 2 in the Atlanta Hawks last 11 games versus a team from the Western Conference. Second, the over is 6 and 1 in the Spurs last 7 games versus a team that scored 100 points or more in their previous game and 4 and 1 in the Spurs last 5 home games versus a team with a winning road record. The Hawks will run in a game versus a running team. Atlanta scored 116 in a victory over Washington, 112 in a victory over Memphis and 116 in a victory over New Jersey in their last. San Antonio averages over 107 points per game. I have to believe this game goes over the total. I like betting over the total more than backing one of these teams versus the NBA spread lines. The Spurs should cover, but that’s no guarantee considering how well the Hawks have been playing lately.
Miami Heat at Golden State Warriors
Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland, California
When: 10:30 pm EST
NBA Odds: Miami -9
Analysis: I’m very surprised that the line in this game is only Miami -9. The Heat has won 6 games straight up and 5 games against the spread. They’ve covered spreads versus Atlanta and Utah in 2 out of their last 3 games. It’s obvious that Miami has gelled. LeBron, D-Wade and Bosh take turns punishing defenses and the presence of center Zydrunas Ilgauskas has really helped this team in the frontline. Miami figures to have their way with Golden State because although the Warriors are trying to play defense, so far it hasn’t worked. Golden State is giving up 107 points per game. The total of 204 isn’t a bad basketball betting line to take a look at either considering that Miami mightrun up the score on this one. How can I be so sure? Stephen Curry, Golden State’s second leading scorer, is doubtful for this game after suffering an injury in the Warriors 94 to 111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in their last. Miami’s defense should shut down Golden State’s top man, Monta Ellis, making under the total a possible wager, but with Miami possibly winning by over 20 points, be careful about going under in this matchup.
