Bet On NBA – Chicago, Orlando, San Antonio Best Early Bets

January 6, 2011

The Chicago Bulls to cover, Orlando Magic to cover, and San Antonio Spurs to cover are the best early NBA bets to make in the sportsbook on Wednesday, January 5th.

The Bulls take on the New Jersey Nets while Orlando battles Milwaukee and the Spurs, after playing in a straight to the hoop 243 total game, a 128 to 115 loss to the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, take on the Boston Celtics on the road.

Jan. 5th – NBA Games

Chicago Bulls (23-10) at New Jersey Nets (9-25)

Where: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey

When: 7:00 pm EST

NBA Odds: Chicago -5

Analysis: I don’t see the Chicago Bulls, who have won 5 straight games, letting up versus the New Jersey Nets on January 5th. The Bulls are 9 and 6 against the spread on the road in the NBA sportsbook this season. They’ve won 5 games straight up and are coming off of a 111 to 91 beat down of the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. Overmatched New Jersey has lost 5 straight games and are 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. They should have no shot against a Chicago team that has become one of the best in the Eastern Conference. Chicago should cover the number in this game.

Milwaukee Bucks (13-19) at Orlando Magic (22-12)

Where: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida

When: 7:00 pm EST

NBA Betting Odds: Orlando -11 ½

Analysis: The Magic has gone 6 and 0 both straight up and against the spread versus the NBA betting odds in their last 6 games. I guess, Magic management does know more about running a hoops team than I do. I didn’t think the trades would help Orlando but, yeah, the proof is in the pudding, right? Anyhow, Milwaukee is 1 and 3 ATS in their last 4 games and had to battle the Miami Heat, in an 89 to 101 loss, on Tuesday night. They’re ravaged by injuries as well setting things up for an Orlando blow out on January 5th.

San Antonio Spurs (29-5) at Boston Celtics (26-7)

Where: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts

When: 7:30 pm EST

NBA Betting Odds: San Antonio +2 ½

Analysis: I understand if many hoops handicappers are hesitant to back the Spurs vs. the Men in Green on the road on Wednesday night. Only 53% are backing San Antonio against the online sports betting spread in this game, but I have no doubt that San Antonio will come out guns blazing. Sure, the Spurs might have slightly weary legs after running up and down the court with the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, but S.A. faces the Celtics and Boston will be without Kevin Garnett, giving the Spurs a huge advantage in the frontcourt. Spurs’ guard Tony Parker can shut down Rajon Rondo. Also, does anybody really think the Spurs will lose 2 games in a row?
