Bet on NBA – Back Detroit v. Miami, Houston v. Lakers and Spurs v. Clippers

December 2, 2010

By the time I made my bet on the Pistons yesterday, the line had moved from +10 ½ to +11 ½.  Was I lucky in the basketball sportsbook, or what?

Detroit lost by only 11 points to Orlando.  So, they covered the spread by ½ a point.  The Lakers failed miserably versus Memphis in a slow down game.  I missed the over on that one but the Spurs came through big time against Golden State.

I’m looking to cash in on 3 games tonight!

Dec. 1st – NBA Games

Detroit Pistons +11 ½ vs. Miami Heat

Where:  American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida

When:  7:30 pm EST

Analysis:  The Pistons are 7 and 3 against the spread on the road this season.  This includes covering versus Orlando and Dallas in 2 out of their last 3 road games.  They get the perfect matchup on Wednesday night when playing the Miami Heat who is 1 and 9 against the pro basketball betting spread in their last 10 games.  The odds makers continue to create crazy wagering lines in Heat games even though the Heat are only beating their opponents, when they win, by an average of 6 points per game.  Detroit’s inside game with Ben Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and Jason Maxiell could dominate the Heat on the boards.  If that happens, the Pistons might pull off the gargantuan upset, but why worry?  I’ll take the points on the better cover team.

Houston Rockets +5 ½ vs. L.A. Lakers

Where:  Toyota Center, Houston, Texas

When:  8:30 pm EST

Analysis:  The Lakers have just been bad lately.  They lost to Utah on the road, that one is understandable, but dropping a home game to Indiana 92 to 95 and then losing to Memphis on the road 96 to 98 are both bad losses.  What’s going on in L.A.?  I believe that the emphasis on defense is hurting the Lakers.  L.A. Has gone 0 and 4 ATS in their last 4 games.  Yes, they play a terrible team in Houston, but the Rockets should get guard Aaron Brooks back for his one and L.A. is reeling.  I have to take the points.

San Antonio Spurs -7 vs. L.A. Clippers

Where:  Staples Center, Los Angeles, California

When: 10:30 pm EST

Analysis:  The NBA odds makers must believe that the Clippers can keep it going.  After all, they are 3 and 1 ATS in their last 4 games, but they play the awesome San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.  San Antonio is a covering machine going 11-5-1 ATS on the season so far and 6-1-1 ATS in their away games.  The Spurs are 9 and 1 against the spread in the last 10 meetings with the Clippers and are 8 and 2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.  This should be an easy one for NBA handicappers.
