Bet on NBA – Atlanta, Philly, San Antonio in Early Action

January 11, 2011

The Atlanta Hawks, as home basketball spread betting favorites, battle the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76’ers host Danny Granger and the Indiana Pacers in Tuesday night early NBA betting action.

The other early game to bet pits the top team in the Western Conference in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs, versus the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road.

Jan. 11th – NBA Games – Early

Milwaukee Bucks (14-21) at Atlanta Hawks (25-14)

Where: Phillips Arena, Atlanta, Georgia

When: 7:00 pm EST

NBA Odds: Atlanta -6 ½

Analysis: The Hawks have been on a roll lately with 4 straight victories both straight up and against the basketball betting spread in their last 4 games. Atlanta is 8 and 2 ATS in their last 10 overall. Milwaukee should get the services of center Andrew Bogut back for tonight’s contest and that should help. The Bucks have gone 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600. Milwaukee definitely has a shot to cover the spread in this game, but Atlanta has just been on fire lately and they get the Bucks at home in this contest. Milwaukee will once again be without guard Brandon Jennings and Drew Gooden is likely out for them as well. I have to back the Hawks.

Indiana Pacers (14-20) at Philadelphia 76’ers (15-22)

Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

When: 7:00 pm EST

NBA Betting Odds: Philadelphia -5

Analysis: The 76’ers are a terrific 12 and 4 ATS in the online sports betting book this season. Philly is 5 and 1 ATS in their last 6 games at home and should have no trouble handling a Pacers squad that depends mightily on forward Danny Granger who averages 20.8 points per game. Granger can’t single handily win games for Indiana. That’s obvious after witnessing the Pacers lose 3 straight games in a row. I don’t believe they break the losing streak facing one of the best ATS teams in the NBA in the 76’ers on the road on Tuesday night. I have to back Elton Brand and Jrue Holiday to continue the Pacers woes. Philly most likely gets back Andrew Igoudala on January 11th raising their chances of covering the spread even more.

San Antonio Spurs (31-6) at Minnesota Timberwolves (9-29)

Where: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota

When: 8:00 pm EST

NBA Odds: Minnesota +6 ½

Analysis: I’m not sure why most basketball handicappers are chilly on the T’Wolves covering the NBA betting spread in this game on Tuesday night. Minnesota lost to the Spurs 91 to 94 as 11 ½ point dogs the last time these two teams hooked up. That game occurred on January 9th, only 2 days ago. The Spurs only beat Minnesota 103 to 101 on Dec. 3rd and 113 to 109 on November 24th. The T’Wolves are actually 3 and 0 ATS in their 3 games versus the Spurs this season. That’s pretty good. I’m taking Minnesota to make it 4 and 0 against the spread versus San Antonio and believe that they could actually upset the Spurs on Tuesday night because it’s obvious to me that S.A. doesn’t match up all that well with Minny.
