Bet on NASCAR – Will Kevin Harvick Win His 2nd Straight By Taking Home the Crown Royal 400 Trophy?

May 1, 2010

Kevin Harvick finally broke through with a victory on the Sprint Cup circuit last week when he won the Aaron’s 499. Harvick now has 6 Top 10 finishes on the year. 3 of those 6 Top 10 finishes were Top 5 finishes.

Harvick’s average finish on the season is 9.7, but with all of those great stats in his corner, he still isn’t the favorite to win this Saturday’s Crown Royal 400. Favoritism for this Saturday’s Crown Royal 400 race goes to two Hendrick drivers, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Is either one of those guys the best bet in the NASCAR sportsbook to win the Crown Royal 400?

NASCAR Sprint Cup: Crown Royal 400 to Win

** NASCAR betting lines listed in the sportsbook

Where: Richmond International Raceway, Richmond, VA

When: May 1st, 2010 at 7:30 pm EST

Best Bet A: Jimmie Johnson +500

JJ got into an accident in the Aaron’s 499 last week and finished 31st. In 2009, he didn’t do all that great at Richmond finishing out of the Top 10 in one race and out of the Top 30 in the other race, but so far in 2009, little has gone wrong for Team Johnson. JJ has 3 victories and an average finish of 10.6 on the year. Not only that, but he has 3 wins at Richmond in his career and the odds on JJ, 5 to 1, are much better this week than they usually are in any other week. He’s worth a NASCAR bet at those odds to return to his usual good form on the race track.

Best Bet B: Tony Stewart +1200

Smoke’s had a terrible 2010 so far. He’s only finished in the Top 10 three times. Out of those 3 Top 10 finishes, one was a Top 5 finish. His average finish in 2010 has been 16.7. But with all of the bad mojo surrounding Smoke so far in 2010, he’s still a good bet to win this Saturday’s Crown Royal 400 because he’s been exceptional at Richmond. Smoke has 3 victories, 9 Top 5 and 15 Top 10 finishes at Richmond in his career for a 10.4 average finish. The odds are terrific on Smoke to get it done on Saturday. I’ll take a shot on him to get off the schneide.

Best Underdog Bet: Juan Pablo Montoya +1800

Juan Pablo’s starting to get into a nice groove. He finished 3rd at Talladega last week in the Aaron’s 499 after finishing 5th two weeks ago in the Subway Fresh Fit 600. He could easily turn it on again this Saturday at Richmond and deserves a long look at the NASCAR betting odds of +1800.

Others to Consider

Jeff Gordon +800 – - Only 2 victories at Richmond on his career makes him a long shot at the odds.

Denny Hamlin +600 – - Joe Gibbs’ #1 driver (sorry Kyle!) already has a victory and 4 top 5 finishes at Richmond in his brief career.

Kyle Busch +800 - – He won at Richmond in 2009 and has an average finish of 6.0 at the track.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. +500 – - He’s always been successful at Richmond…except in 2009 when he finished 21st and 27th.
