Here is a look at tonight’s baseball betting trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and MLB Expert Picks.

New York Yankees 411

  • Yankees are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. American League West.
  • Yankees are 4-1 in their last 5 road games.
  • Yankees are 1-5 in Vazquez’s last 6 road starts vs. a team with a winning record.

The Yankees handed the Texas Rangers  convincing 5-2 defeat as a -170 favorite on Sunday to record their fourth straight win while the seven combined runs played Under the 9-run O/U total. Veteran left-hander Andy Pettitte allowed two runs on four hits over eight strong innings for New York and Ramiro Pena drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Oakland 411

  • Athletics are 5-0 in their last 5 home games vs. a right-handed starter.
  • Athletics are 6-1 in their last 7 home games.
  • Athletics are 6-2 in their last 8 games vs. a right-handed starter.
  • Athletics are 5-2 in Gonzalez’s last 7 starts on grass.

The Athletics lost to Baltimore 8-3 as a -170 favorite on Sunday while the game’s 11 combined runs played well Over the 7-run O/U total. Third baseman Jake Fox was 2-4 with an RBI for Oakland and Brett Anderson gave up six runs on eight hits on five innings.

The Starters: Veteran right-hander Javier Vazquez (0-2, 9.82 ERA) will take the mound for the Yankees tonight while the A’s counter with young left-hander Gio Gonzalez (1-0, 3.37 ERA).

Analysis: The New York Yankees are my pick to win tonight’s matchup despite the struggles of veteran southpaw Andy Pettitte.

New York has gone a perfect 4-0 in their last four games against American League West ballclubs while also going a bankroll-boosting 4-1 in their last five road games overall.

I know the Oakland Athletics have gone an unblemished 5-0 in their last five home games against a right-handed starter and 6-1 in their last seven home games overall, but the Yankees are just too good offensively for an A’s team that has to play perfect baseball in order to manufacture runs on most nights.

I know the Yankees have gone a pitiful 1-5 in Javier Vazquez’s last six road starts against a team with a winning record and that the A’s have gone 6-2 in their last eight games against a right-handed starter, but I’m backing the Yankees to cover the Run Line as they can put three runs on the board with one swing of the bat in almost every inning while the A’s have to scrap and scrape for every single run they get.

MLB Betting Expert Picks: Yankees -1½ Runs
