People who bet on football can see that even though it may, in the end, be indicative of its true quality, Wyoming hasn’t beaten anyone of stature. In the opener the Cowboys were able to get by Southern Utah despite being outgained. Then came decisive losses to Texas and Boise State where they managed less than 400 combined total yards. In their last outing, however, Wyoming put up a nice stand against Air Force, tied at 14-14 before the Falcons scored the winning touchdown with less than four minutes to go. That was an interesting game, because even though if you bet on football you could have won with them as a 13.5-point dog, as a Wyoming was completely dominated on the stat sheet. The Cowboys ran just 45 plays from scrimmage compared with 84 for Air Force, and they gave up 379 rushing yards to the Falcons. This was also one of those rare occasions for Air Force where it actually threw more passes than a non-academy opponent.
Here are some of the college football betting trends as they impact our decision as we bet on football:
- Wyoming has lost 12 of its last 17 road games SU
- Wyoming has played seven of its last ten road games UNDER the total
- Toledo has won four of its last six games SU
- Toledo has covered two of its last six home games
- Toledo has lost nine of its last 13 home games SU

When you bet on football, you have to consider circumstances. Toledo hasn’t faced the caliber of opponents Wyoming has, but the Rockets have won three straight games on the road, with two of those wins coming against capable teams like Purdue and Western Michigan. The offense is ranked 116th in the country, but the quarterback, the developing Austin Dantin (a sophomore) has bounced back from disappointing efforts against Arizona and Ohio the first two weeks to toss four TD’s with only one interception in these last two games. Eric Page, who had 1158 receiving yards last year and ten catches last week vs. Purdue, is a threat Wyoming may not be able to handle.
When you think about it, it’s kind of tough to gauge what Wyoming can do from what they have shown against three teams who are probably among the top 30 in the country, except to say that they did what they were probably supposed to do against Texas and Boise State – that is to say, lose in a one-sided manner – and the numbers were lopsided in a deceiving final score against Air Force. Keep in mind that this is a team that allows more than five yards a carry and doesn’t rush the passer well (just four sacks), so those who bet on football shouldn’t be surprised if someone can move the ball on them. They won’t catch a break in the Glass Bowl, which should welcome Toledo back home loudly. We’re going to bet on football this weekend with Toledo, the 4.5-point favorite in the college football lines.
