Bet on Football Pick – Eastern Michigan at Ohio State

September 25, 2010

The Eastern Michigan Eagles and Ohio State Buckeyes meet Saturday in a game that is a major mismatch for anyone who plans to bet on football this weekend.

Eastern Michigan is a massive underdog in this one and for good reason against the no.2 Buckeyes in Columbus, but can they cover the spread against a far superior team?

The Buckeyes have the same Tressel ball philosophy as before in terms of playing mistake-free football and possessing the ball, but they also have a better killer instinct against lesser teams. That bodes poorly for an Eastern Michigan team that is part of a program that had trouble even getting enough attendance to maintain a D-1 program a few years ago.

Former Michigan defensive coordinator Ron English heads the program and would love nothing more than to beat Ohio State but it’s not going to come close to happen as most people who bet on football know. The only thing up in the air for this game is whether or not OSU will score enough to cover the spread.

With Terrelle Pryor maturing by leaps and bounds at QB and coming in as a guy bigger than the EMU linebackers in some cases and obviously faster, Pryor could have a Denard Robinson-like all-around day running and throwing, at least for the first half.

The Buckeyes also have deep threats in Dane Sanzenbacher and DeVier Posey on the outside meaning they can score quickly against EMU whenever they want against an undersized secondary, which will be the key matchup in the game.

Even OSU’s backup QB’s are more than capable of taking advantage of those matchups after they come in from Pryor in a likely blowout.

Expect OSU to score early on both offense and defense in this one and never let up in Columbus.

Bet on Football pick: Ohio State (-44).
