Bet On Football – Rams Travel To California For Battle Of Winless Teams
September 19, 2010
The Oakland Raiders suffered the worst loss of week one at the hands of the Tennessee Titans, falling 38-13 on the road this past Sunday. The Raiders return home this weekend looking to put that game in the past, with a fresh new start in front of their home fans. The St. Louis Rams on the other hand were anything but blown away in their game against the reigning NFC West division champion Arizona Cardinals, falling 17-13 after leading 13-10 throughout most of the fourth quarter. One of these teams will get in the win column this weekend, as two of the National Football League’s struggling franchises look to give their fans something to be satisfied with.

Bet On Football: What The Rams Will Have To Do To Win
The Rams led their opener against the Cardinals 13-10 before Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald got wide open behind the defense for a 21-yard touchdown reception that ultimately ended St. Louis chances of getting the victory. Rookie Sam Bradford had a rough introduction to the NFL, throwing for one touchdown compared to three interceptions, but managed to complete over 60-percent of his passes and looked much more comfortable as the game progressed. Running back Stephen Jackson had a big day, rushing for 253 yards. The Rams’ defense held Arizona to just 10 points until late in the fourth quarter, and will need a similar effort against the Raiders.
Bet On Football: What The Raiders Will Have To Do To Win
It’s hard to imagine that the Raiders actually led in a game that they ended up losing by 25, but that was the case for Oakland in a 38-13 blowout by the Tennessee Titans. Despite making moves in the offseason to upgrade their run defense, the Raiders allowed Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer to rush for a combined 175 yards and three touchdowns, and despite limiting Titans’ quarterback Vince Young to just 154 yards, Tennessee still registered a couple of touchdowns through the air. While running back Darren McFadden looked explosive in rushing for an average of 5.3 yards per carry while also catching six passes for 55 yards and a touchdown, the rest of the offense looked stagnant.
Bet On Football: Outlook & Pick
Despite increased expectations for this season after the team made a couple of big signings on both sides of the ball, the Raiders looked dysfunctional in the season opener with a loss that was the result of more than a few things that went wrong. St. Louis came very close to beating the team that has dominated their division the past couple of seasons, and it doesn’t seem right not to take the points against a team that can’t get it together.
