Bet NFL Game Lines Week 14 – Oakland vs. Jacksonville
December 12, 2010
Bet NFL game lines long enough and you’ll find teams in each conference that are particularly difficult to grade. Enter the Oakland Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars, two perennial underachievers who are finally putting together respectable runs. If you had told me that the Raiders had a legitimate shot at the playoffs by Week 14, I would’ve called you crazy.
And if someone had tried to convince me that Jacksonville would be sitting atop their division, I think I would’ve had a laughter induced conniption.

The Raiders slumped midway through the season, which was directly correlated to Darren McFadden receiving fewer touches. In fact, the Raiders are 4-1 SU and ATS when McFadden has more than 95.5 rushing yards in a game. I know that both the Raiders and McFadden have been rough when you bet NFL game lines but for whatever reason they’ve finally figured things out.
While it’s exciting to see Darren McFadden finally have a breakout season, the problem is that he’s their only reliable weapon. The Jaguars are actually one of the better rush defenses at home, ranking 9th in the league with just 95.8 yards allowed on the ground per game.

Things become even more difficult for Oakland when you envision that they’re playing in an early game on the east coast against a team that has gone 4-1 SU and 5-0 ATS in the past 5 games. Though I’ve advised to bet NFL game lines with Jacksonville for over a month, not a lot of people have followed suit.
I don’t exactly blame them. Of all the tangible ways I qualify teams in my ongoing database of notes and scribbles, the word that I have attached to the Jaguars is the word “unsexy”. Even when they win games, they don’t do it in decisive fashion. As such, their last five victories against the spread haven’t made more than a ripple in the NFL betting community.
Which is totally fine by me because I will ride this gravy train to its bitter end. Oakland is a better team than almost all of us expected, but they’re also unfortunately one-dimensional. Jacksonville can lean on their strong rushing defense, while allowing Maurice Jones-Drew to run wild on a team that allows 123.3 rushing yards away from home (24th in the NFL).
Sniffing out value in the NFL betting market is essential at this point and the Jaguars are one of those teams you need to keep your thumb on. Bet NFL game lines against them at your own risk. All that will do is keep their lines favorable for the rest of us.
