Bet NFL Game Lines – Take Tampa Bay To Cover Against Carolina

November 14, 2010

For the most part, Tampa Bay has found itself in awkwardly tight games against all comers and if you bet NFL betting game lines then they’ve been giving you all sorts of heart attacks. That is, of course, unless they’re getting blown out by the Saints or Steelers…or if they’re trouncing the Carolina Panthers.

Games in the NFC South have been historically troubling to play if you bet NFL football as much as I do but Carolina is making the case a whole lot easier. They’re just 1-7 SU in their 8 games this season with a collective record of just 2-6 ATS which makes them one of the worst teams to bet NFL game lines with.

The other part that makes Carolina a strict “no no” if you bet NFL football this weekend is that Jimmy Clausen is starting. While I still think he might be a good quarterback down the road, he’s been nothing more than an interception throwing machine so far.

Tampa has some ball hawks in their secondary and can continue to take advantage of that problem.

While there’s almost nothing positive you can say about Carolina, people are gushing about Tampa Bay right now and that’s because they finally have a stable backfield.

Joshua Freeman is a very, very, very good quarterback and while LeGarrette Blount isn’t a burner at tailback, he’s the battering ram this team needs to establish a decent rushing attack.

Generally speaking, Tampa isn’t a great take if you bet NFL home teams. They’re just 3-11 SU and 2-12 ATS in their past 14 home games, but much of that has to do with last year. You have to imagine that if they could destroy Clausen and Carolina in Raleigh earlier this year, they’ll have no problems at home.

Part of the reason for creating a -7.0 spread on this game, which hasn’t moved, is that nobody in the sportsbook wants people betting Tampa Bay to win this game outright. The value isn’t there on the moneyline, so if you want some returns when you bet NFL games this weekend, you have to take Tampa Bay and the points.

That shouldn’t worry you. Steve Smith is becoming a non-factor and age, along with injuries, are slowing him down. Carolina also no longer has the one-two punch in their running game with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart both out. Don’t be worried about Tampa Bay with a modest line.

They may have been chasing teams on the scoreboard for the past month, but this is a game they can runaway with and return some big rewards for those that bet NFL game lines on their side.
