Best Underdog Bets for March Madness College Basketball Betting Fanatics Everywhere!

March 16, 2011

When it comes to making bankroll-boosting bets on any sport, there is nothing quite like riding a red-hot or ‘under the radar’ underdog that is not only offering a huge return on your online sports betting investment, but one that actually stands a legitimate chance of cashing in against the odds in their respective contests.

Having said that, I have come up with an original, comprehensive list of underdog teams that I believe are going to be the best underdog bets for March Madness betting fanatics over the course of the 2011 NCAA Tournament (or at least until they get knocked out).

With ‘First Four’ games getting underway on Tuesday and Wednesday before the ‘real’ games start on Thursday, let me get down to business with my eye-opening college basketball betting analysis.

Boston University (8-3-1 ATS, 21-13 SU)

This makes the third time in two days that I’ve said it, but the Boston University Terriers could very well be one of the best underdog bets on the board for their March Madness matchup against No. 1 Kansas on Friday.

The Terriers have gone 4-1 SU in five neutral site games this season while covering the college basketball spread in 11 of its L/13 neutral site games overall. The Terriers will face a Kansas Jayhawks team that is just 1-4-1 in its last half-dozen games.

Richmond Spiders (19-12 ATS, 27-7 SU)

The 12th-seeded Spiders have gone 5-1 SU in six neutral site games this season and 7-0 against the college basketball betting line in its L/7 games overall.

Maybe it’s me, but after seeing the Spiders roll to their A-10 Championship title win over Dayton on Sunday, I think it’s very possible that they will not only cover the March Madness spread against No. 5 Vanderbilt in their second round meeting on Thursday, but pull off the huge upset with the outright win as one of the best underdog bets for March Madness on the board.

Indiana State Sycamores (21-11 ATS, 20-13 SU)

Not many people are expecting Larry Bird’s alumni to pull off the outright win over No. 3 Syracuse in their second round meeting on Friday, but I think it’s quite possible the feisty ballclub could cash in against the college basketball betting line against the Orange.

The Sycamores have gone 4-2 SU in six neutral site games this season and a fantastic 8-0 ATS in its L/8 games as a neutral site underdog. Lest anyone forget, the Orange have suffered some perplexing losses this season, not to mention the fact that they’ve gone 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against non-conference opponents!
