Best Free Betting Tips is on the Redskins to Cover

September 26, 2010

One of the best free betting tips of the week is on the Washington Redskins to cover the spread against the St. Louis Rams this Sunday.

Here’s another one of the best free betting tips of the week: if you play Fantasy Football, and, yes, Fantasy Football is gambling, and have Clinton Portis, then start him. The ‘Skins released RB Larry Johnson early this morning and the Rams allowed Oakland RB Darren McFadden to rush for 145 yards against them last Sunday.

The Rams have no chance at covering the spread against the best team in the NFC East. Sorry Dallas fans. My apologies to Michael Vick lovers. G-Men watchers? Forget it. The ‘Skins are the best team in the NFC East.

The NFL betting trends favor the Washington Redskins in this game.

  • The St. Louis Rams are 0 and 4 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS victory.
  • The St. Louis Rams are 9 and 21 ATS in their last 30 games at home.
  • The Washington Redskins are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss.
  • The Washington Redskins are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games on the road.

The Redskins should be 2 and 0 this season instead of just 1 and 1. They had a 17 point lead in the 3 rd quarter last week against the very good Houston Texans before giving it up and allowing the Texans to send the game into overtime where Houston won it.

QB Donovan McNabb was absolutely fantastic throwing for 426 yards and a TD against the Texans. He probably won’t have to do that this Sunday because the Rams’ rush defense is horrid.

One of the reasons that the Redskins to cover is one of the best free betting tips for the weekend is because of St. Louis’s inability to stop the rush. St. Louis is ranked 30 th in the NFL against the rush. They give up 142 yards per game on the ground. Arizona rushed for 112 total yards against them and their best RB didn’t even play.

The Raiders racked up a total of 173 yards on the ground against the Rams last Sunday. Washington RB Clinton Portis may be healthier this Sunday than he has been yet in 2010. If that’s the case, then expect him to carry the ball between 20 to 25 times in this game. He should go left, he should go right, he should go up the middle against the Rams’ rush defense and get into the end zone at least twice, maybe three times, in this game.

The NFL odds makers are making it easy to give out great free betting tips when they create wagering lines like this one.

Houston QB Matt Schaub was superb against Washington’s D last Sunday, yes, but Rams’ rookie QB Sam Bradford isn’t nearly as polished as Schaub. He also doesn’t have the weapons that Schaub possesses. Bradford’ best WR is Mark Clayton who isn’t bad, but he’s not going to scare the underrated Washington secondary either.

Every way I look at it, it comes up the same. Washington should trounce St. Louis as road favorites this Sunday. Making a wager on the ‘Skins to cover is easily one of the best free betting tips I can think of for the week.

NFL Betting Pick: Washington Redskins -3 ½ -110
