Best Early NFL Playoff Bets – Colts over Jets, Baltimore, Green Bay Highlight Wildcard Round
January 5, 2011
The best early NFL playoff bets are backing the Indianapolis Colts vs. the New York Jets, the Green Bay Packers vs. the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.
That’s 3 of the 4 NFL Wildcard Round games. That only game that appears slightly iffy to me in the NFL sportsbook is the game between the New Orleans Saints vs. the Seattle Seahawks. I have no doubt that the Saints will win but giving up 10 ½ points to the ‘Hawks on the road at Qwest Field is tough for me to do.

Let’s take a look at the best early NFL playoff bets for the 2011 NFL Playoffs!
NFL Wildcard Round
New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts
Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
When: Jan. 8th, 2011 at 8:20 pm EST
NFL Betting Pick: Colts -2 ½
Analysis: Indy’s run defense has been spectacular lately. It’s held Jags’ RB Maurice-Jones Drew, Oakland RB’s Darren McFadden and Michael Bush combined, and Tennessee’s Chris Johnson to under 100 yards in Indianapolis’s last 3 games.
The Colt’s rush defense should allow them to keep Jets’ QB Mark Sanchez under control and the Colts’ offense has been on fire lately with Indy scoring over 30 points in 4 out of their last 5 games. I see Peyton and Co. easily taking out the Jets making Colts -2 ½ one of the better early NFL playoff bets to make this weekend.
Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs
Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
When: Jan. 9th, 2011 at 1:00 pm EST
NFL Betting Pick: Ravens -1
Analysis: Jump all over this spread, friends. I like KC. I think that they’re a much better underdog to win the Super Bowl at +4500 than the Jets are at +2500 but I hate their matchup versus Baltimore. The Ravens have won 4 games in a row straight up.
They’re 5 and 7 straight up in their last 12 games with their only 2 losses coming to #1 seeded in the NFC Atlanta and rival Pittsburgh. Baltimore allows only 93.9 yards per game on the ground, ranking them 5th defensively versus the rush in the NFL, and should have a field day destroying the Chiefs’ 14th, with 330.2 total yards allowed per game, ranked defense.
The Ravens should roll. Sports handicappers should make backing Baltimore right now an early NFL playoff bets priority before the line changes too much.
Green Bay Packers at Philadelphia Eagles
Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
When: Jan. 8th, 2011 at 4:30 pm EST
NFL Betting Pick: Packers +2 ½
Analysis: Philly QB Michael Vick should be ready to go, but I don’t believe that it will matter. The Minnesota Vikings held Vick to 263 yards passing, a TD and an interception. They held him to 63 yards on the ground and a single TD.
As explosive as Vick is, he couldn’t handle the Vikings’ pressure. Now, he’s going to face QB pressure from a Green Bay defense that is very good at being creative with their blitzes. What’s Vick going to do?
My feeling is that he’s going to crumble under the pressure and make at least one to two huge mistakes. Philadelphia’s defense just isn’t good enough to contain Packer QB Aaron Rodgers and an offense that’s averaging 358 yards and 24 points per game. GB should upset the Eagles straight up on Jan. 9th.
