Bengals at Jets – Thanksgiving Day 2010 Football Night Game

November 25, 2010

Thanksgiving Day 2010 Football has its first NFL night game with Cincinnati at New York. This could turn into an exciting game that wakes everybody up or it could be a full disaster from the first kickoff.

I don’t know about you, but most of my family is either snoring or slurring by 8:00 on Thanksgiving night. Let’s hope this game keeps the relatives raging.

NY Jets (6-4 ATS) -8 ½

WOW – does this look like a trap game or what?

Cincinnati is now ranked Number 30 in my NFL Power Rankings Week 12 after getting shutout by Buffalo 35-0 in the SECOND HALF last week. They can’t be this bad, and that’s what scares me here.

The Bengals are on a seven-game losing skid, and they follow the Jets against the Saints, Steelers, Browns, Chargers and Ravens. This Thanksgiving Day 2010 Football contest could easily turn into a Lucky 13 loser in succession for Cincinnati.

This is a team ranked 8th in NFL passing offense averaging 250 yards a game in the air. This doesn’t sound bad, but those stats are overblown and so much below the upside of this potential passing powerhouse.

Cincy has some serious problems in their depleted secondary allowing teams to come back bombing the ball like the Bills did in last week’s embarrassment. The Bengals picked up a cornerback this week that had been released by the Lions, but without a pass rush they are doomed.

The Jets are coming off an emotional victory that did nothing but help Mark Sanchez and the New York offense fortitude after that corner pass to Santonio Holmes for the win.

In the first Thanksgiving Day 2010 Football night game, I would expect the Jets to take advantage of a weak defensive line by giving Ladianian Tomlinson what could be his best offensive output of the year.

They will run him and gun him for screens out of the backfield to maximize the exposure of this weakness. If LT is on your Fantasy Football team, get him in your lineup for two touchdowns plus.

The Jets also have a couple shutdown corners in that defensive secondary to further squash the Bengals hopes. Revis Island almost sounds like a location in the Caribbean by now, but you also have

The Jets have ownership rights in this series with a 14-7 record. They already have 2 wins in a 7 day span in January of this year.

The final game in Giants stadium was sweet victory for New Yahk locking up a playoff berth with a 37-0 shutout.  They followed that less than a week later with a 24-14 triumph.

Rex Ryan gets a Thanksgiving Day 2010 Football bonus with a 10-day break after this game. They prepare to meet the Patriots for a Monday Night Football clash which could be for NFL Best team bragging rights.

I think the Bengals can recover but not in a short week like this. The Jets will be trying and succeeding in just about anything they want to against this disheveled group of Talk but no Walk Play-Uhs. There will be no trap here.

Thanksgiving Day 2010 Football Pick – Bet NY Jets -8 ½ or -9 over Cincinnati Bengals
