The Jets have been winning with a lot of question marks, either because of their quarterback or because of a defense that at some times look overrated, but the truth is they has a 8-2 (6-4 ATS) record that puts them ahead of everybody in the National Football League.
Last week, they proved they can come from behind, as they beat the Houston Texans 30-27 with a last second throw that QB Mark Sanchez connected with Santonio Holmes. The Jets haven’t beaten anybody by more than nine points since they crushed the Buffalo Bills 38-14 in week 9 of the season.
The Bengals, on the other side, have lost seven games in a row including a 49-31 terrible loss against the Buffalo Bills; Cincinnati was winning 31-14 at halftime but then fell apart allowing 35 points in the second half, 21 of them in the last quarter.
Right now you just can’t trust the Bengals; their locker-room is a mess and Carson Palmer, as I thought would happen, hasn’t been able to keep happy two “divas” like Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco.
Consider that the Bengals have lost eight of nine versus the Jets including two losses last season, the last one 24-14 at home in the playoffs.
The betting trends say Cincinnati is 0-6 ATS vs. AFC East, 10-22 ATS against conference opponents and 3-6 ATS in weeks 10 through 13. The Jets are 5-2 ATS when playing with 6 or less days rest and 5-2 ATS against conference opponents.
Simmons’ pick: take the Jets to cover.
