Bears Looking to Pull off Upset Against NFL Odds, End Rival Vikings Playoff Hopes
November 14, 2010
In this season of totally unexpected parity, the Chicago Bears find themselves looking to pull off the home ‘upset’ as a slight underdog against the NFL Odds despite being hosting a division rival that is two games worse coming into this contest.
Nevertheless, the Bears will look to beat Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings and likely end their hated rivals’ fading postseason hopes when they take to the gridiron at Soldier Field on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET.

BetOnline.com’s resident loudmouth Damon D gives you a full Sports Betting rundown. Including NFL Picks, Free Money and who will win in the Pacquiao – Margarito fight.
Here is a look at the game’s key head-to-head trends.
- Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Chicago.
- Home team is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings.
- Over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings.
- Vikings are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Chicago.
Minnesota (3-5 SU, 2-6 ATS, 5-3 O/U)
The Vikings picked up a thrilling 27-24 win over the mediocre Arizona Cardinals the last time out, but I think it says a lot that Minnesota even had to go to such lengths to beat a mediocre team in a meaningful home contest they should have cruised to victory in.
The Vikings failed to cash in as against the NFL Odds as a 7.5-point home favorite and bring a three-game ATS losing streak into this matchup.
Brett Favre tossed two TD passes in the win and two more costly interceptions bringing his season total to nine touchdown passes and 13 interceptions.
Minnesota is 5-2-1 ATS in its last eight games against its NFC North division rivals but just 0-4 ATS in its last four road games.

Chicago (5-3 SU, 3-4-1 ATS, 2-6 O/U)
Chicago didn’t look like any sort of juggernaut in Week 9 BetOnline football sportsbook gamblers, but then again, they didn’t need to be in their 22-19 win over the winless Buffalo Bills.
The Bears got two TD passes from Jay Cutler in the win and picked off Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick twice while playing out as a Push against the NFL Odds as a 3-point road favorite.
Chicago has gone 4-1 ATS in its last five games as a home underdog but are just 2-7 ATS in its last nine home games overall.
NFL Odds Prediction: I don’t know if it’s me or not BetOnline pro football gamblers, but I’m thinking the Minnesota Vikings are going to be in trouble in this contest, not that I really believe the Chicago Bears are a ‘better’ team.
I mean, really … the Bears may not be a legitimate Super Bow contender, but at least they haven’t had nearly the drama-filled, underachieving start that the ‘drama queen’ Vikings have displayed so this season.
Not only have the Vikings gone 1-6 ATS in their last seven meetings against the Bears when they meet in Chicago, but the Home team in this NFC North division rivalry has gone 4-0 against the NFL Odds in the last four meetings.
In spite of their offensive limitations, Chicago is allowing just 16.6 points per game this season (fourth) that doesn’t bode very well for a Minnesota offense that is putting up just 19.5 points per contest this season (22nd).
I like the Chicago Bears to pick off Brett Favre at least once en route to a narrow straight up win and ATS cover against the NFL Odds as a slight – and surprising – one-point home dog.
NFL Odds Pick: Chicago bears +1 Point
