BCS Game Betting – James’ Wizardry a Key Factor for Oregon

July 2, 2011

If you are looking at the Auburn vs. Oregon contest for BCS game betting, you know that one of the major factors in the online betting game is going to be wizardry of LaMichael James in the Ducks’ backfield. What you may not realize is that is if James stays in school long enough, he could break a lot of records, including the career record for rushing yards.

We’ll see how much he can add to his total on Monday night. In the BCS game betting odds, Auburn is a two-point favorite, with the total on the game posted at 74 points.

No one in the country scored more touchdowns than LaMichael James of the Oregon Ducks. James tallied 22 touchdowns on offense (21 on the ground, and one catching the ball), and he also led the nation in rushing yards per game, with 153. And he might have had a lot more, had he not had to sit out the season opener against New Mexico with a one-game suspension. In that 72-0 win, the Ducks had 369 yards on the ground, and James surely would have had a healthy portion of that total had he lined up.

He’s young, but if you’re involved with BCS game betting, you know that he is far from a one-year wonder.

James carried the ball only twice in the 2009 season lid-lifter against Boise State, but he wound up being pressed into action when LaGarrette Blount drew a suspension for striking one of the Broncos after the 19-8 defeat. No matter how highly-regarded James may have been when he came to campus, BCS game bettors would have to admit that he surpassed all expectations. He was consistently spectacular for most of the season, averaging 6.7 yards a carry, and had over 100 yards in nine of the last eleven games.

All told, James had 1546 yards last season, but he was somewhat disappointing in the Rose Bowl, when he gained only 70 yards in the 26-17 loss to Ohio State. There is no doubt that he would like to redeem himself from that one, and BCS game betting fans should take notice of that.

This season his biggest game was a 257-yard explosion against Stanford, which won the Orange Bowl, and he also had 239 yards against Southern Cal. He scored at least one touchdown in every game but one, and multiple TD’s in eight different games.

In two years of college football he’s already gained 3228 yards, and that carries some significance to it. You see, if he were to remain in school for two more years and stay on that pace, he would break the all-time NCAA Division I career record, which is held by Ron Dayne, the former Heisman Trophy winner from Wisconsin, who had 6397 yards (. It might interest you to know that the Division II leader for career rushing yards is Danny Woodhead, now with the New England Patriots, who racked up 7962 at Chadron State).. If he were to match this year’s TD total in each of the next two seasons, he would break the all-time record for rushing touchdowns, which is currently held by Miami of Ohio’s Travis Prentice, who was active between 1996-99.

So you know he may just be THE principal factor in BCS game betting on Monday night.
