#15 Louisville Cardinals (18-5) vs. #7 Notre Dame Irish (19-4)
Where: Joyce Center, South Bend, Indiana
When: 7:00 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Louisville +4 ½
Analysis: The basketball odds trends actually favor the Irish in this contest. Notre Dame is 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. They’re also 5 and 2 against the spread in their last 7 home games and 4 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 versus the Big East, but I’ve got the feeling that Louisville is going to come up big on Wednesday night.
The Cardinals are 3 and 1 straight up in their last 4 games including beating the Huskies in Connecticut in overtime, 79 to 78. Even the 3 point loss to Georgetown, 59 to 62, was a sign that Louisville is playing well since they took on the Hoyas on the road. I’ll take the points and back the Cardinals on Feb. 9th.
#11 Georgetown Hoyas (18-5) at #13 Syracuse Orange (20-4)
Where: Carrier Dome, Syracuse, New York
When: 7:00 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Georgetown +4 ½
Analysis: Syracuse appears to have patched the hole in the ship. After 4 straight losses on the college basketball moneyline, to Pittsburgh, Villanova, Seton Hall and Marquette, the Orange has won 2 games in a row versus UConn and South Florida. Georgetown has been hot for a while, however.
The Hoyas have won 6 games in a row straight up and are 9 and 3 against the spread in their last 12 road games. I have to back G’Town in what I believe is going to be one heck of a round ball game on Wednesday night.
#10 Villanova Wildcats (19-4) at Rutgers Scarlet Knights (12-11)
Where: Louis Brown Athletic Center, Piscataway, New Jersey
When: 8:00 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Rutgers +7 ½
Analysis: Villanova squashed Rutgers by 16 points, covering a 14 point spread in the online sportsbook, on January 2nd in an 81 to 65 victory. I’m still thinking Rutgers in game, however, because the Bloody Knights take on the ‘Cats in New Jersey.
One of the big trends is that the home team is 5 and 2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. Another good trend for Rutgers is that they are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games overall. I’ll take what should be more than 7 points on the Knights to keep it close in this matchup.
Bet on the college basketball Big East games on Wednesday night!
