Florida -4.5
Vanderbilt +4.5
Here are some of the basketball sportsbook trends that surround this game:
· Vanderbilt has won four of its last six games SU
· Vanderbilt has covered one of its last six games
· Vanderbilt has played five of its last six games OVER the total
· Florida has won eight of its last ten games SU
· Florida has won nine of its last eleven home games SU
Vanderbilt is barely hanging on to its national ranking, and whether that means something by the time the tournament people make their selections remains to be seen. But what one must remember when analyzing this particular matchup in the basketball sportsbook is that is that Vandy swaggered into Gainesville last year and came out a 64-60 winner.
Billy Donovan likes to think his team has benefited from more experience by now, and the Gators have indeed popped back into the rankings.
However, Florida stepped on the land mine that Vandy managed to avoid. They went to Mississippi State and got beat by the talented but erratic Bulldogs, where the ‘Dores won at Starkville.
These are the head-to-head trends that may affect basketball sportsbook betting on this conference game:
· Florida has covered four of the last six meetings
· Florida has won 15 of the last 20 meetings SU
· Florida has won nine of the last ten meetings as the road team SU
· Five of the last six meetings in Gainesville have gone UNDER the total
· Florida has had the shooting edge in four of the last six meetings
It’s probably useful to look at Vandy’s results on the road. As we mentioned, they beat Mississippi State, and lost a very tight one at Tennessee, which of course does not have Bruce Pearl on the bench in these early SEC games.
They went toe-to-toe with a Missouri team that had won 51 straight games at home and took the game into overtime before losing. The rough slip came against South Carolina, where the Commodores blew it as a basketball sportsbook favorite.
Fundamentally speaking, Vanderbilt can certainly hang in there. They bring troublesome big people to the table in Festus Ezeli (13 ppg) and Lance Goulbourne, but Goulbourne was scoreless in a loss to Arkansas and has been bothered by an ankle injury.
Depth is a problem, but John Jenkins and Brad Tinsley have the ability to out-shoot Florida’s backcourt. We could, in a small recommendation, take the points in the basketball sportsbook here.
