Basketball Predictions – Suns vs Trailblazers
April 23, 2010
The Portland Trailblazers surprised many people when they stole the first game of the series in Phoenix even without their best player Brandon Roy. However, that game one loss seems to have woken up the Phoenix Suns who have been out for blood in the next two games, dominating both by scores of 108-89 and 119-90.
The NBA odds makers have completely written off the Trailblazers yet as they are only small +1 point underdogs to the Phoenix Suns this Saturday. The game total is 202 points.

The Portland Trailblazers were one of the hottest teams coming into the playoffs and it looked like they would be the lower seeded team most likely to dump the higher seed in the Western Conference playoffs. However, Brandon Roy went down with a knee Injury and the once hot Trailblazers are expected to be going home quickly. Then they stole game one in Phoenix and that was enough to give the Portland fans hope and like so many other big dreams Portland Trailblazer fans have had over the past couple decades, they’ve been crushed. Remember, Sam Bowie, Greg Oden, game 7 versus the Lakers in 2001? Sorry PDX, this series is over because Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Nash have decided it’s over.
The Suns weren’t supposed to be in the playoffs this year, let alone hold home court advantage for the first round but after 82 games the Suns were in and after three more games; the Portland Trailblazers are experiencing the heat from the Suns. Nash is averaging 17 and 11, Amar’e is averaging 18ppg and 9rpg and Jason Richardson has been on fire, averaging 28.3 PPG including a 42-point outburst Thursday night. Without Brandon Roy, Richardson has been pretty much free to impose his will and with Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Nash attracting so much attention, J-Rich has been left wide open far too often for Portland to have a chance.
At the end of game three, the Trailblazers started to get chippy and rough under the basket trying to slow down Amar’e. That could be a major concern for the Suns as Amar’e has been prone to untimely injuries in the past, it would only take one errant elbow from LaMarcus Aldridge for this series to take on a different look.
The bottom line is that Portland doesn’t have the weapons to match the Suns offensively and with Roy missing, they don’t have anyone capable of slowing Jason Richardson from scoring in bunches. The -1 for the Suns is a gift. Take it for the max.
