Basketball Betting this Weekend in the NBA Sportsbook

December 15, 2010

It may be close to freezing in some parts of the country, but the NBA betting action figures to heat things up immensely this weekend.

Many teams have already solidified their positions as among the best in the league. Other teams are up and comers with a shot. Either way, let’s take a look at a few of this weekend’s terrific NBA games:

Miami Heat at New York Knicks

When: Friday at 7:00 pm EST

An early game kicks off a great night of basketball when LeBron James, D-Wade and Chris Bosh travel to New York to take on Amare Stoudemire and the Knicks. LeBron and Co. have won nine games in a row and have covered the spread in seven of their last eight, with the one other game being a push.

No team is hotter in the NBA than the Miami Heat except maybe the New York Knicks who have won nine out of their last 10 and have covered in eight out of their last 10 games. The Knicks are the highest scoring team in the NBA averaging 108.5 points per and Amare is averaging 26 points, nine boards and two blocks per game. This should be a seriously fun contest for us who like to bet on NBA!

Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs

When: Saturday at 8:30 pm EST

Miami and New York may be two of the hottest teams in the NBA right now, but the best team is the San Antonio Spurs. The 20-3 Spurs are also 15-7-1 against the basketball betting spread going into the week. Manu Ginobili, who puts up 20 per, leads a scoring brigade averaging 106 points per game.

Both Tony Parker and Tim Duncan appear rejuvenated and defensive stoppers DeJuan Blair and Richard Jefferson are doing their jobs to lockdown opposing teams best players. The Grizzlies are riding a three-game winning streak and have covered seven of eight.

Indiana Pacers at Boston Celtics

When: Sunday at 1:00 pm EST

The Pacers travel to Boston to take on the Celtics and the Big Three. While most pro basketball betting handicappers have been concentrating on the Spurs and Heat, the Celtics have quietly built a 19-4 record going into the week’s action. KG, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce take on a Pacers team that could surprise them with the hot shooting Danny Granger, averaging 21 points per, on the floor.

Los Angeles Lakers at Toronto Raptors

When: Sunday at 1:00 pm EST

The Lakers haven’t exactly been striking fear into the hearts of their opponents this season. They are 17-7, but they win close games, as evidenced by their 10-14 ATS record. L.A. has covered only one spread in their last ten going into the week and face Toronto at the end of a four-game road trip. Can Kobe and Co. muster a victory for basketball bettors in Toronto on Sunday?

Phoenix Suns at Oklahoma City Thunder

When: Sunday at 7:00 pm EST

The weekend caps off with an awesome matchup between the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns and the Kevin Durant led Oklahoma City Thunder. With Russell Westbrook and Jeff Green giving Durant support, the Thunder has climbed to a 17-8 record going into the week and is determined to remain close to Utah in the Northwest Division.

The Suns have lost three straight games both straight up and ATS, meaning that Phoenix will need to step it up against the Thunder on the road.
