#1 Ohio State Buckeyes (24-0) at #14 Wisconsin Badgers (18-5)
Where: Kohl Center, Madison, Wisconsin
When: 2:00 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Wisconsin moneyline
Analysis: I know, I know. Last week, I wrote about how the Minnesota Golden Gophers were a good bet on the NCAA moneyline odds to upset the best team in the nation, Ohio State. I was wrong about that game, but I believe I’m right about the Buckeyes’ game versus the Badgers on Saturday. Wisconsin lost by 9 points, 51 to 60, to Ohio State on January 16th, but that game was in Buckeye Land. The Badgers are 7 and 2 ATS at home and have gone 6 and 1 straight up in their last 7 games and 4 and 0 straight up in their last 4 games at home. Ohio State is a great team, but Wisconsin is good enough to hand them a loss on Saturday.
Baylor Bears (16-7) at #3 Texas Longhorns (21-3)
Where: Frank Erwin Center, Austin, Texas
When: 4:00 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Texas -15 ½
Analysis: I’m hoping that the college odds betting makers believe that hoops handicappers have respect for the Baylor Bears or else Texas could be a -19 ½ point favorite in this game. Baylor does have an excellent player on their team in LaceDarius Dunn who averages over 20 points per game, but Texas is heads and tails better than the Bears. Texas is an awesome 6 and 3 against the spread at home this season. They’ve gone a terrific 8 and 1 ATS in their last 9 games. All five Texas starters scored in double-figures in the Longhorns last game, a 68 to 52 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas will roll on Feb. 12th.
Iowa State Cyclones (14-10) at #2 Kansas Jayhawks (23-1)
Where: Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, Kansas
When: 4:00 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Kansas -17 ½
Analysis: Since losing to Texas 63 to 74 as -7 point home basketball odds favorites on January 22nd, the Texas Longhorns have won 5 straight games. They’ve gone 4 and 1 against the spread in those 5 games and are obviously gearing up for the NCAA Tournament. Iowa State doesn’t have much of a chance against a KU team that averages 83.7 points per while shooting an NCAA best 52.4% from the field. Rock Chalk opponents are shooting less than 39% from the field on average against them.
