Baseball Odds – Rangers to Dominate in Detroit Again
April 13, 2011
With only one loss on the season, getting off to a terrific 9-1 start, the Texas Rangers look very much like the defending American League champions. Tonight Texas takes on the Detroit Tigers in the baseball odds for the second game in a three-game series after taking the first matchup 2-0 last night.

Baseball Odds: Texas -1.5, Detroit +1.5, Game Total: 9 runs
Backed by strong pitching and an offense averaging 6.0 runs per game, the Rangers have been virtually unstoppable so far this 2011 season.
Tonight CJ Wilson takes the mound, looking to continue to shut out opponents, as the Rangers have only allowed the opposing teams to bat at .193 this season. However, despite his consistency throughout the postseason, so far in 2011, Wilson has been bothered by an irritating hamstring injury. Despite that, he got a win in his first outing against Seattle, posting a 2.84 ERA.
MLB Pitching Matchup:
TEX CJ Wilson (1-0, ERA 2.84) vs DET Brad Penny (0-1, 11.17)
On the other side, Detroit sends Brad Penny to the stripe, who so far on the season has taken one loss and one no-decision. Giving up eight runs to New York and four runs to Baltimore, Penny has yet to find his groove, with a current ERA of 11.17.
The Tigers have struggled against left-handers, but count on one of the best hitters in baseball in their lineup with Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera is hitting .382 on the season, but the rest of the Detroit lineup has not made much of a contribution.
To add to the Tigers woes, Magglio Ordonez is expected to be out for a few games due to an Achilles tendon problem.
With Texas listed as the 1.5-point favorite in the MLB Sportsbook, the Rangers are the solid pick for tonight’s game. Practically unstoppable, playing behind Wilson’s arm, and against the one-man offense of Detroit, the Rangers should shut the Tigers down.
