MLB Betting – Who’s Hot MLB’s Hottest ‘Under’ Teams
Even though the summer months are here, the run production in baseball betting doesn’t seem to be picking up any. That’s a recipe for an ‘under’ bettors delight! Check out this week’s list of the best ‘under’ teams in baseball over the L/5 days…
(Rank) (Team) (O/U Record) (O/U Record in L/5)
1: Oakland Athletics (36-46-1) (0-5 in L/5) Save a day where they gave up a whopping 15 runs to the Indians, the Athletics have been a dominant ‘under’ team of late. They’ve played five straight ‘unders’, and have stayed under the number nine times in their L/10 games and 13 times in their L/16. Thank a very good, but much unheralded bullpen for that string of low scoring ball games. The pen has only given up two runs over the L/5 days, which is impressive considering the fact that only one starter has lasted longer than 5.2 innings in that run. The fact that Oakland’s offense ranks 23rd in the majors at 4.18 runs per game and is only batting .243 as a team for the season isn’t helping matters either. At 35-48, it only seems like a matter of time before OF Matt Holliday gets traded to a contender, which isn’t going to aid the situation any for the remainder of the season. Keep this team on your ‘under’ radar after the All-Star Break as well.
2: Atlanta Braves (33-46-5) (0-5 in L/5) With as bad as Atlanta’s lineup is, it’s a wonder how the Braves aren’t on this list each and every week. None of Atlanta’s L/5 games have really come anywhere near threatening the ‘total’, as neither the Braves nor their opponents have scored more than five runs in a game in that stretch. Normally, a team that ranks 24th in home runs (67) would be more known for its small ball and running game, but the Braves only have 29 stolen bases on the season as well. To put that in perspective, Tampa Bay’s Carl Crawford has almost 1.5 times more stolen bases than the entire Atlanta team does. Oh yeah, a pitching staff with a 3.83 team ERA is going to help matters as well, especially when Jair Jurrjens and Javier Vazquez both have sub-3.00 ERAs heading into the All-Star Break.
3: Pittsburgh Pirates (36-46-3) (0-4-1 in L/5) There’s a very simple reason that the Pirates find themselves on this list… their offense is really, really bad. When it feels like you’re getting shut out every single day, it’s easy to play ‘under’ games, and that’s what’s happening in Steeltown right now. The Bucs have only scored ten runs in their L/5 games, and six of those runs came in Tuesday’s 6-3 win at Houston. 1B Adam LaRoche is the only member of the team that has more than six home runs on the season now that CF Nate McClouth has been sent to Atlanta. There just isn’t any hope in sight for a team whose front office surrenders annually before the All-Star Break festivities begin.
And the rest…
4: Houston Astros (32-46-5) (0-3-2 in L/5)
5: Florida Marlins (42-39-5) (1-4 in L/5)
