Baseball Betting Odds – Detroit Tigers vs. Baltimore Orioles

April 7, 2011

After losing 7-3 to Detroit in MLB play yesterday, the Baltimore Orioles will take another swing at the Tigers tonight in Thursday night baseball betting action from Camden Yards.

Baseball Betting Odds: Detroit +1.5 (-165), Baltimore -1.5 (+145) , Game Total: 9 runs

Coming off their first loss of the season, the Orioles look to bounce back behind the arm of Chris Tillmann tonight.  In his first outing of the season, Tillmann was phenomenal, throwing for six no-hit innings and remaining strong for over 100 pitches. He will need to throw solid again tonight against a Tigers lineup that light up the scoreboard last night, led by none other than Miguel Cabrera.

Cabrera went two-for-four in yesterday’s game, notching his 250th career homer in the Detroit win.  Also, Magglio Ordonez can be a menace, hitting .343 at Camden Yards with 22 RBIs.

On the mound for the Tigers will be Brad Penny, who is looking to prove his worth after being rocked by the Yankees in the opening series of the season.  New York got seven hits and scored eight runs against Penny, whose ERA is a horrendous 16.62 now.

These two teams split their ten games in the 2010 season, but the Orioles have found the winning track since the addition of manager Buck Showalter last August, going 37-24.

The betting spread picks the Orioles as the favorite in tonight’s game, with the game total at nine runs.  The game looks to be a tough battle, with the strong Tigers bats facing the consistent arm of Tillmann.

The bats of the Tigers are clicking, but without much support from the stripe, tonight’s game will likely go to the Orioles, the team that has begun the season with more consistent play and has a significant advantage on the mound.
