Auburn (5-0) enters undefeated and 2-0 in SEC play. The Tigers are averaging 476 yards per game on offense and even more impressive is that they out-gain opponents by 143 yards per game.

Quarterback Cameron Newton has shined in his first season as starter, and the big, raw duel threat leads the Tigers in rushing while completing over 65 percent of his passes at over 10 yards per pass attempt.

He leads the nation in passer rating, is #2 in pass efficiency and has 12 touchdown passes with five rushing touchdowns. Our college football pick says he’ll find the end zone a few more times Saturday and the Tigers trio of solid running backs should combine for another big day on the ground.

Kentucky has allowed 11 rushing touchdowns and over 165 rushing yards per game, including 211 last week at Mississippi.

Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley has been a beast to handle for opposing offensive lineman, as the junior leads the SEC with five sacks and over 11 tackles for loss. The experienced defensive line has been solid against the run while allowing just 92 rushing yards per game at just 2.6 yards per rush.

But while the Tigers secondary is a real concern, our college football pick believes Kentucky quarterback Mike Hartline will be under heavy pressure and not able to make timely passes and take advantage despite passing for 263 yards per game.

The Wildcats rely on solid senior running back Derrick Locke, but while they rolled up over 200 rushing yards in each of their opening three games against weaker opposition, Kentucky has been held to 99 and 124 yards rushing the past two games against SEC competition.

Hartline has put the ball in the air more than any SEC quarterback, and he’ll have to have a big day while limiting interceptions for Kentucky to be a college football pick winner under the ESPN2 prime time lights.

Kentucky just does not have the defensive personnel to slow the Tigers explosive, balanced attack. The Wildcats are allowing over 28 points per game and both Florida and Mississippi were able to score over 40 on them.

The Wildcats red zone defense is a disaster having allowed 13 touchdowns in 13 trips inside their 20 yards line. Kentucky was on the short end of a 3-0 turnover differential against Ole Miss, and while the technical analysis strongly favors Kentucky to bounce back against this undefeated visitor, our college football pick favors Auburn in many fundamental match-ups and believes the Tigers will remain undefeated and claw the ‘Cats by at least a touchdown.

NCAA Insider Tip: Auburn has won seven straight games in Lexington including six by double-digits. Kentucky is just 6-13-1 ATS their last 20 home games.

Auburn was upset by Kentucky last year as a 13-point favorite to snap their 15 game winning streak over the Wildcats, and won’t be in any mood to let this college football pick cover escape them tonight!
