Arnold Palmer Invitational – Prop Bets on Finishing Top 10
March 24, 2009
The PGA Tour travels to Orlando, Florida this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. BetOnline Sportsbook will be offering terrific wagering which should gain high interest from gamblers for the simple fact that Tiger Woods, who won this tournament in 2008, returns after taking off a week.
Tiger isn’t the only golfer returning. Padraig Harrington and Vijay Singh return as well.
Let’s analyze the chances of some golfers to finish in the Top Ten in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Golf: Arnold Palmer Invitational Top Ten
1. Retief Goosen +150 – - Goosen was consistent in last week’s Transition’s Championship while everyone else just sort of lost their way. Kenny Perry shot a 67 in the first round then followed it up with a 74 in the second round. Jim Furyk shot a 65 in the first round then followed it up with a 78. Goosen shot 69, 68, 69, 70. His consistency will lead him to a Top Ten finish in the Arnold Palmer this week.
2. Anthony Kim +200 – - Kim is one of those golfers that returns after taking off last week. He’s been hitting the ball with consistency and has a top ten finish this season. Kim should be on his “A” game and the golf odds are good on Kim to finish in the Top Ten.
3. Kenny Perry +200 – - Perry bombed in the Transitions last week after shooting a 67 in the first round. He should bounce back in this tournament because he’s very good at making adjustments. A win might be asking too much but a Top Ten finish appears likely.
4. Tiger Woods -500 – - This is probably the tournament that Tiger uses to really tighten the screws. He’s biding his time and waiting for The Masters before unleashing his best stuff, but he might not have to be at his best to finish in the Top Ten. -500 is terrible, but this is Tiger.
5. Vijay Singh +250 – - The odds on Vijay are just too good to pass up after his 53rd place finish in the WGC-CA two weeks ago. Why? Because Singh is a winner. Winners don’t just sit around and play badly week to week. They figure out why they played badly and then adjust. That’s what Singh did last week instead of playing in the Transitions.
6. Jim Furyk +150 – - Who knows what happened to Furyk out there! Okay, we do know. He played lights out last Thursday and then stunk it up on Friday. Going form a 65 to 78 pretty much ended Furyk’s hopes of winning the Transitions last week, but he did manage to pull it together somewhat, shooting72 in the third round and a 74 in the fourth. So, he didn’t stink it up as bad on Saturday and Sunday and he finished 3rd in the WGC-CA two weeks ago.
Best Long Shots
Charles Howell +400 – - Howell almost beat Goosen for the Transitions Championship last week. He could take that momentum and finish in the Top Ten at nice odds.
Trevor Immelman +500 - – There’s no reason to really like Immelman except that he won the Masters in 2008 and we’re getting closer and closer to that tournament. Maybe, he starts to light it up on the golf course.
