Arizona State vs. Wisconsin – College Football Betting: Big Ten vs. Pac-10 Showdown
September 18, 2010
It seems to be Big Ten vs. Pac-10 week as two top Big Ten programs will both take on solid Pac-10 programs from Arizona in college football betting weekend matchups that have caught the eyes of the national media.
The Badgers will host Arizona State in what many believe could be one of the most exciting college football games of the weekend and a matchup between two different styles of offensive attacks.

The Badgers will be a bit thin in the receiving ranks due to injury in this one, but the team has depth at that spot and it isn’t typically the main focus of their offense, either. The Badgers like to run behind their big offensive line featuring an Outland Trophy candidate in Gabe Carimi along with other linemen who would all be among the biggest in the Pac-10 if they played for Arizona State.
Wisconsin definitely has a different style than most Pac-10 teams are used to and they have played it well over the years scoring a handful of Rose Bowl wins where other Big Ten teams have faltered. The power-running style will be tough for Arizona State to stop at all, but on offense the Sun Devils have a chance to make things happen.
The man at the helm of their new spread offense is Steven Threet from Adrian, Michigan, the former 2008 starter at quarterback for the Wolverines. This college football game is especially intriguing because it was Threet who led Michigan to a big comeback win in 2008 over the Badgers at Michigan Stadium and Threet is now locked into an offense that fits his style better. He is completing 67% of his passes and looking like one of the best quarterbacks in the Pac-10.
But the Badgers have a smart secondary and a deep, talented defense. This one will come down to whether or not ASU can stop the run and with John Clay, all 252 pounds of him, looking like a new, fitter version of Ron Dayne, that’s not likely to happen on Saturday.
College Football Betting Pick: Wisconsin (-12 ½).
