The non-conference games didn’t go the Huskies way as they finished with a 1-2 record with a win over Syracuse and losses to BYU and Nebraska. They opened Pac-10 play with a last second 32-31 win over the heavily favored USC Trojans.
Jake Locker is projected to be the first or second quarterback off the board at the 2011 NFL entry draft. In four games this season, Locker has completed just 53.8% of his passes for 936 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He took a beating against Nebraska, throwing just 71 yards but in the other three games, he’s looked worthy of his lofty draft predictions.
College Football Betting Trends – ASU is 1-4-1 ATS in their past 6 road games.
The Huskies defense hasn’t stopped the run (234.8YPG), they haven’t defended the pass (205YPG) very well and add it all up they are allowing 440.2 yards a game, which ranks them 108th in the nation.
The Arizona State Sun Devils quarterback Steven Threet gains lots of yards in the air. In five games, Threet is completing 60.5% of his passes for 1431 yards. He’s thrown nine touchdowns but he’s also thrown 10 interceptions, seven INTs in the past two games.
College Football Betting Trends – ASU is 6-0 ATS in the teams past six meetings.
The trouble with the Sun Devils offense is that the numbers are inflated by two huge scoring games against Div II opponents. Against the Div II teams, ASU scored 95 points but against their three Division I opponents, they’ve managed 78.
Defensively they are better than the Huskies but again the numbers look better by virtue of their games against the lower division. During their three game losing streak, the Sun Devils are allowing 31 points a game.
College Football Betting Trends – The favorite is 6-0 ATS in the teams past six meetings.
The Sun Devils three losses against Div I teams don’t inspire confidence while the Huskies look like they are trending upwards. Take the Huskies -2½-points.
NCAAF Betting Pick: Huskies -2½
