All the Answers for MLB “Over” Picks
September 13, 2010
BetOnline Sportsbook is back with more MLB betting analysis this week. The Diamondbacks remain the top ‘over’ team in the bigs, but who else should you be on when looking for high scorers? We’ve got all the answers you need for ‘over’ MLB picks.
Season Standings
1: Arizona Diamondbacks (82-58-3) – The ‘over’ run for the Diamondbacks has been tempered just a bit by the fact that they haven’t scored more than five runs in a game since August 31st, but the bottom line is that these guys have opened up such a huge lead in this category on the season that it just doesn’t matter. Arizona will have the best ‘over’ mark in the bigs when the year is said and done in a few weeks.

2: Milwaukee Brewers (74-61-7) – But in spite of the fact Milwaukee has been second all year long, maybe it won’t finish there… Three straight ‘under’ clashes in which none totaled more than four runs have brought the Brew Crew back to the pack to the point that they are getting close to falling off of this list for the first time almost all season long. Holding their L/5 foes to a total of just eight runs has been a huge lift for a staff that has a woeful 4.77 ERA on the season.
3: Florida Marlins (74-62-6) – The Fish continue to score runs left and right to the tune of 5.50 per game since September 5th. It’s resulting in a ton of ‘overs’, and a lot of wins as well. No, Florida won’t make the playoffs this year, but it could make life hell for a lot of teams trying to get there. Watch out Philly and Atlanta. The Marlins are coming to get you!
Who’s Hot?
1: Tampa Bay Rays (5-0-1) - Speaking of a team the bats have awoken on… What’s going on with the Rays? Tampa Bay just averaged 7.22 runs per game on this nine game road trip… and only went 3-6 to show for it. Yikes. The pitching staff is going to be a big question mark, and going into a stretch of seven games in 11 days against the New York Yankees with the AL East title on the line, that’s some bad news.
2: St. Louis Cardinals (6-1) – For a team that prides itself on pitching, this is terrible news. The damage had already been done to the Cards this year, but this was sort of salt in the wound. All of a sudden, all of the pitchers on this fantastic looking staff are starting to get hit, and it has crippled St. Louis’ season.
3: Chicago White Sox (5-2) – Maybe Manny wasn’t such a bad idea after all? He might only be hitting singles, but batting .294 looks a lot better than what was in the middle of the lineup originally. Chicago won’t make the playoffs because of how hot Minnesota has been, but it can hold its head high for fighting tooth and nail down the stretch.
