September 25, 2010
The SEC West has taken a bit of a backseat to the East in recent years but the marquee matchup of the year in the conference might be this weekend’s game at Arkansas, a game that has college football betting fans salivating.
Can Arkansas take down the number one Crimson Tide at home in what could be the biggest game for the program in decades and vault the ‘Hogs into contention for a possible run at a league title and national title game berth?

Or will Mark Ingram, the former Heisman Trophy winner, and Alabama continue their dominance under Nick Saban?

College Football Betting Odds: Alabama favored at -7
Alabama is 3-0 against the spread this year and looking dominant yet again including a win over nationally-ranked Penn State, although college football fans should be aware that PSU was starting a freshman QB on the road in that game which skewed the win a bit in terms of Alabama’s overall talent.
The Tide are not as complete a team as last year but they have still have depth and talent at every position along with superstars like Greg McElroy at QB (yes, he’s a star because he never loses), Julio Jones at WR, and of course Ingram at RB. Ingram’s performance against Duke last week was a good sign for college football betting fans who went with Alabama.
He ran for more than 100 yards in the first half before grabbing a seat and allowing Trent Richardson, another potential superstar, to take over for him. The running game is ‘Bama’s big edge in this game and they will use it to great effect.
Arkansas meanwhile has won 8 of their past 9 home games and are led by Mallett who could be a top-five NFL draft pick if he comes out early. The Michigan transfer left because he needed an offense to fit his pocket-passing style and he found it with the Razorbacks. He has the best arm in the country and a bevy of wide receiver talent. But Alabama’s secondary has always been one of their strong points and this year is no different.
In a game like this it’s always wise to take the team with the best running game and that team is Alabama.
College football betting pick: Alabama (-7).
