AFC Update – Jaguars Continue to Surprise in NFL Spread Betting Book

December 1, 2010

The Jacksonville Jaguars continued to inspire confidence in the football betting sportsbook this past Sunday when covering in their game versus the New York Giants.

The Jags are still in the AFC Top 5 NFL ATS list.  The Jets and Chiefs didn’t drop from the list either. What team did?  How about the Indianapolis Colts who all of a sudden are in danger of losing the AFC South outright?  San Diego obliterated the Colts in a fantastic 14 to 36 beat down this past Sunday.

Let’s get to the AFC Top 5 and the AFC Bottom 5!

AFC Top 5 NFL

  1. New York Jets 9-2 (7-4 ATS) – - After losing against the spread in their game versus the Houston Texans, the Jets won 30 to 27 as 6 ½ point favorites, NYJ bounced back beautifully versus the Cincinnati Bengals on Thanksgiving Night.  Hey, that’s what the Bengals are becoming.  The team that everybody wants to play in order to get back on the NFL betting cover train.  The Jets won 26 to 10 as -10 point road dogs.  This week’s MNF game versus New England is hugely important.
  1. Kansas City Chiefs 7-4 (7-4 ATS) – - The Chiefs have now won 2 games in a row both straight up and ATS since losing 20 to 23 versus Oakland and 29 to 49 versus Denver earlier in November.  The Chiefs dominated an overmatched Seattle Seahawks team 42 to 24 as -1 point road favorites.  They take on their nemesis, the Broncos, this Sunday before battling San Diego for what might be first place in the AFC West in two weeks.
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars 6-5 (7-4 ATS)  – - As 8-point dogs in the NFL odds sportsbook, the Jags played a marvelous game to lose by only 4 points to the New York Giants, 20 to 24, this past Sunday.  They take on reeling Tennessee, who needs to get QB Kerry Collins onto the field to have any shot at a victory, this Sunday.  The Jags have a legitimate shot for the AFC South crown if they can beat Tennessee, Indianapolis, and Houston in 3 out of their final 5 regular season games.
  1. Miami Dolphins 6-5 (7-4 ATS) – - The Fins are still in the wildcard hunt. That’s why their game versus the Cleveland Browns as 4 ½ point NFL sportsbook betting faves this Sunday is ultra-important.  QB Chad Henne is healthy enough to start now, and that was the difference between Miami’s 33 to 17 victory this past Sunday over Oakland and their 0 to 16 loss versus Chicago two weeks ago.
  1. New England Patriots 9-2 (6-4-1 ATS) – - Since losing 14 to 34 to Eric Mangini in early November, the Patriots have come back to score over 30 points in 3 straight games:  39 vs Pittsburgh, 31 vs. Indianapolis and 45 vs. Detroit.  Their defense is still shady as it’s given up 26 vs. Pitt, 28 vs. Indy and 24 vs. Detroit in their last 3 games.  The battle versus the Jets this Monday night will give NFL fans more clues as to how the Patriots will do in the playoffs.

AFC Bottom 5 NFL sports book

  1. Cincinnati Bengals 2-9 (3-8 ATS) – - The Bungles are a horrible team. Their defense is garbage but, more alarmingly, QB Carson Palmer has turned into the 2010 version of former Indy QB bust Jeff George.  This team is just bad.  Now, they face the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints this Sunday as +7 home dogs in the NFL betting sportsbook.
  1. Denver Broncos 3-8 (3-8 ATS) – - Josh McDaniels is the worst kind of coach.  Not only does he have absolutely no managerial skills but also he really believes his own hype.  Heck, he creates his own hype!  The man is a loser and that’s why the Broncos, who made Rams rookie QB Sam Bradford look like an All-Pro in Denver’s 33 to 36 loss as -3 point favorites, stink straight up and ATS this season.
  1. Cleveland Browns 4-7 (4-7 ATS) – - Cleveland was favored by 9 points in the NFL sportsbook over the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday.  Everything appeared to be in order, the Browns had a 21 to 7 lead at one time, before the Panthers suddenly started working Cleveland over like they were simply, well, the Browns.  Cleveland continues to fail ATS having gone 0 and 3 in their last 3 games.
  1. Tennessee Titans 5-6 (5-6 ATS) – - I’m amazed that the Titans, facing arguably the worst defense in the NFL in the Houston Texans, didn’t do a damn thing to change up their offense.  They hung QB Rusty Smith out to dry and didn’t mix up any plays to RB Chris Johnson.  CJ was held to 5 yards on 7 carries meaning that the Texans knew exactly what they needed to do in order to beat up Smith.
  1. Houston Texans 5-6 (5-6 ATS) – - I still feel that the defense blows.  Facing QB Rusty Smith is one thing. Facing Eagles’ superstar Michael Vick this Sunday is quite another.  Vick should demolish the Texans’ horrible D in that game.
