WTA Malaysia Tennis Picks: Zheng, Kleybanova, Bammer and more
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The WTA descended on Kuala Lumpur this week for the Malaysian Open 2010 and several noteworthy players in the women’s game have arrived to compete. The tournament, entering the second round, here is a look at some of the matchups that tennis bettors can find currently trading in the online tennis betting market.
Tennis Betting Line: Anastasia Rodionova -200 Ekaterina Ivanova +150
Match Time: 11:00 PM Eastern Time Tuesday February 23, 2010
Tennis Betting Verdict: Russian Anastasia Rodionova (now playing for Australia) is favoured over Russian Ekaterina Ivanova to win outright at -200. Rodionova is inconsistent and therefore beatable in my opinion. Rodionova is only 5-5 on the season with no noteworthy results in tournament play. This sets up Ivanova well for the upset, even though she isn’t as experienced as her opposite is. At+150, she is priced within the match and therefore the value pick.
Tennis Free Picks: Ivanova in three sets
Tennis Betting Line: Zi Yan +150 Ayumi Morita -200
Match Time: 11:00 PM Eastern Time Tuesday February 23, 2010
Tennis Betting Verdict: Japan’s Ayumi Morita enters this match as the -200 favourite. The 19-year-old however arrived in Kuala Lumpur 0-2 for the season. She won her first match when she beat Elena Voskoboeva in the first round. We are yet to see whether she can make her opening win count. Yan Zi of China took out fifth seed Melinda Czink in the first round, a much more credible result. Moreover, seeing how inspired the Chinese players are right now, at +150, I would much prefer betting on her than on her opposite. She is priced well within the market for the upset and she is the value pick in this match for tennis bettors looking to buck the trend.
Tennis Free Picks: Yan Zi in three sets
Tennis Betting Line: Jie Zheng -500 Kai Chen Chang +300
Match Time: 11:00 PM Eastern Time Tuesday February 23, 2010
Tennis Betting Verdict: China’s Jie Zheng is a solid favourite over Kai Chen Chang of Taipei, listed at -500 to win outright. Zheng has a significant on paper edge over Chang and she should have a straightforward match against Chang. There is little to suggest Chang could mastermind the upset. Go with the trend on this matchup.

Tennis Free Picks: Zheng in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Akgul Amanmuradova +225 Sybille Bammer -350
Match Time: 11:00 PM Eastern Time Tuesday February 23, 2010
Tennis Betting Verdict: Austria’s Sybille Bammer is the firm favourite at -350 to win outright and she enters the tournament as the sixth seed but this matchup could be tricky for her in my opinion. I am not saying she won’t win, she should, but she might have a tougher time of it than the market would suggest. Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekhistan moved into the first round with a solid victory over qualifier Yurika Sema and although it was her first win on the season, it could be all she needs to pick up some momentum. Bammer is known for being streaky as well.
Tennis Free Picks: Amanmuradova in three sets
Tennis Betting Line: Alla Kudryavtseva +225 Alisa Kleybanova -350
Match Time: 11:00 PM Eastern Time Tuesday February 23, 2010
Tennis Betting Verdict: This is the marquee matchup of the day, an all-Russian affair between Alla Kudryavtseva and Alisa Kleybanova. We should see some really big hitting between these two power players and a close intense contest. The market favours Kleybanova, largely because she has been the more consistent of the two players. Kudryavsteva is by no means without a shot in this match though. In fact, I would have liked to see her priced lower. The market cast notwithstanding I would still pick Kleybanova to win outright. She is one of the loveliest ball strikers in the game today and she is a player to watch this season.
Tennis Expert Pick: Kleybanova in straight sets
