Feb. 13th– NCAA BB Games
** Records and stats not counting Thursday, Friday, and Saturday games.
#5 Duke Blue Devils (22-2) at Miami-FL Hurricanes (15-9)
Where: Bank United Center, Coral Gables, Florida
When: 6:45 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Duke -12 ½
Analysis: Duke made one of the most impressive comebacks in recent memory on Feb. 9th versus rival North Carolina. Down 43 to 29 at halftime, the Dookies outscored NC 50 to 30 in the second half and beat the Tar Heels straight up 79 to 73. Duke is getting better, amazingly, and should be considered the team to back to win the NCAA Tournament if overlaid future book betting odds can be found on them. Miami-Florida has won 3 straight games but they’ve beaten arguably the worst 3 teams in the ACC, Georgia Tech, Virginia and Wake Forest. Duke is a different story. The Blue Devils should absolutely punish the Hurricanes on Sunday. I’m thinking between a 13 to 17 point victory.
Providence Friars (14-10) at #9 Connecticut Huskies (18-5)
Where: Harry A. Gampel Pavilion, Storrs, Connecticut
When: 7:00 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Providence +8 ½
Analysis: How bad was it for Connecticut on February 10th versus St. John’s? UConn, who averages 41 boards per game, got outrebounded 41 to 31 by the worst rebounding team in the Big East. St. John’s only averages 32 boards per game. How did that happen to Connecticut? The only thing I can think is that the Huskies have fallen apart. UConn has gone 0 and 3 straight up in their last 3 games and 0 and 4 against the online betting spread in their last 4 games. Providence’s top scorer, Marshon Brooks who averages 24 points per game, could demolish the Huskies on Sunday. Connecticut is reeling big time. Providence is definitely the team to back ATS and they might be the team to back with a moneyline wager.
#16 Arizona Wildcats (20-4) at Arizona State Sun Devils (9-14)
Where: Wells Fargo Arena, Tempe, Arizona
When: 9:00 pm EST
Fair Basketball Odds: Arizona -10 ½
Analysis: That didn’t take long. In only his second season as the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats, Sean Miller has turned Bear Down into the best team in the Pac 10. Arizona is once again at the summit of college hoops in the Pac. They figure to stay there for a while, too. The ‘Cats have also been very good against the NCAA odds line in the sportsbook going 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 overall games. ASU doesn’t figure to put up much of a fight on Sunday. Sure, it’s a rivalry game but Arizona averages 78.5 points per game while shooting 48.4% from the field. The Sun Devils shoot a horrific 42.7% from the field while scoring only 64.2 points per game. Bear Down should make it ugly in Tempe on Sunday.
