#5 Duke, #4 Pitt, #7 UConn Early Evening Basketball Odds Faves

The #5 Duke Blue Devils, #4 Pittsburgh Panthers and #7 UConn Huskies are early evening basketball betting odds faves in the sports book on Saturday February 5th.

The Blue Devils take on the N.C. State Wolfpack while Pittsburgh hosts Cincinnati.  UConn will try to end a 2 game losing streak on the road versus pesky Seton Hall.  Keep reading for a preview of all 3 games below.

Feb. 5th– NCAA BB Games – Night

N.C. State Wolfpack (12-10) at #5 Duke Blue Devils (20-2)

Where:  Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, North Carolina

When: 6:00 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds:  Over 152     

Analysis:  Duke is most likely going to be a huge -17 ½ or higher favorite in the online sportsbook versus N.C. State on Saturday.  I just can’t get myself to back the Dookies at those odds, but, then again, I can’t really take the points on N.C. State either.  Duke averages 85 points per game, 4th in NCAA basketball.  North Carolina State averages only 72 points per game but the last time these two teams played each other, on Jan. 19th, the Dookies won 92 to 78.  The Wolfpack will run at the Blue Devils and Duke will be more than happy to run right back.  This game should go over the total if the total line is fair.

Cincinnati Bearcats (18-4) at #4 Pittsburgh Panthers (20-2)

Where:  Petersen Events Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

When:  6:00 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds:  Pittsburgh -6 ½     

Analysis:  Pittsburgh has gone 4 and 2 ATS in their last 6 games, but basketball sports betting fans might be afraid to back the Panthers in their game versus the Bearcats on Feb. 5th.  The Panthers have gone 0 and 2 ATS in their last 2 games.  They lost straight up to Notre Dame on Jan. 24th, and then they barely beat Rutgers 65 to 62 as -10 point road faves on Jan. 29th.  Cincinnati is a decent enough team, but Pitt held the Bearcats to only 25% from behind 3-point land, 3 out of 12, the last time the two teams faced each other.  I see Pitt getting back on the winning side of the spread on Saturday.

#7 Connecticut Huskies (17-4) at Seton Hall Pirates (10-13)

Where:  Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey

When:  4:00 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds:  Under 147              

Analysis:   Connecticut has lost 2 games in a row, 78 to 79 to Louisville in overtime and 58 to 66 to Syracuse as -3 point basketball betting online favorites.  They should beat Seton Hall, but I’m not sure how badly they’ll beat them.  The Pirates upset both Syracuse and Providence straight up before losing to West Virginia 44 to 56.  The last time that these two teams met, they accounted for 134 total points.  The total set on that game by the odds makers was 154 ½.  This contest should go under if the total is around 147 or so.
